so, we get official confirmation we are in special measures. Clearly this happened a few weeks ago, with blocking a new signing a few weeks ago. The RFL, as the governing body, are well within their rights to do this. No one in their right minds would question this.
But.......
Why has it only been confirmed now. It makes the RFL appears vindictive!!
Also the lack of any acknowledgement or appreciation that the move to Dewsbury is looking to address the financial issues at the club is really disappointing. What do they expect Chalmers to do when he is spending a huge amount of maintenance on an asset which is clearly not fit for purpose. Remaining at Odsal would lead to one outcome.
Chalmers clearly has a plan. The decision to leave Odsal/Bradford must have been very difficult and one of last resort. Lots may not like the plan (including me), but surely everyone should recognize this is the only option to develop a sustainable business, but the RFL don't acknowledge this. Also, there should be some credit given to Chalmers for continuing to invest in the academy, when he clearly has struggled to balance the books. That Academy has continued to produce high quality players for the Bulls and other clubs. Surely the RFL don't want the cloth cutting to focus on those costs rather than trying to keep a dilapidated stadium open for business
The approval for 1 year also appears vindictive, why only 1 year, makes no sense.
Imho the RFL should approve the 2 year move, and make future membership of the league contingent of having a approved funded plan to move back to Bradford. We stay in special measures until we provide sufficient comfort that we are over our financial issues.
