I think the biggest problem Rugby League has is the negativity of some of its 'fans', how do you expect to introduce new fans and promote the game when you have a few people slagging off every single thing the game does.
Events like Magic Weekend
Oh, you mean an event like Magic Weekend which was introduced in order to showcase, promote and introduce the sport to a wider audience outside of the traditional RL areas? Well, that worked well didn't it? So well in fact that it's now ended up in Manchester and the stadium will still be less than half full! Super League supporters of the world unite! You've nothing to lose but your M62.

and The Exiles
Given the acute disinterest in promoting international rugby league unless the Aussies agree to play us in the UK, I guess it makes sense to create a bullshit alternative. Our very own 'unique' substitute version of State of Origin! At least that way, the game over here never has to contemplate undertaking any tours to New Zealand, PNG or the Pacific Islands to play any proper internationals does it?

would be universally happily accepted and successful in football, in Rugby League people just want to belittle and criticise these unique events.
Nope, I doubt that anyone in soccer would be interested in creating a unique alternative to the sundry international programme of events they already have, and they certainly don't need any Magic Weekend in order to showcase the sport to a wider audience since they already have that audience well and truly sewn up, just in case you hadn't noticed.
