Wheeler might well be every bit as good as Eastmond. Perhaps better, even.

Myler looked anything but a future international at times last season, playing behind a lightweight Widnes pack and you feel he'll need to move to a bigger club to get a chance of international selection. He wouldn't be the first (or the second come to that) Myler from Widnes to play at halfback for GB.

Last season Myler was at Salford not Widnes, for who he has played 2 or 3 first team games.
And IIRC he won NL1 young player of the year as well as representing England in the World Cup warm up.

he was at salford last year and played very well...if your talking about the year before, he was 16! he's not 19 for a month yet.

Matty Smith never seems to get a mention in these threads. I know he's 22 now but I think he may have something to offer in a few years. Quality kicking game and he isn't just a ball runner like a lot of other half backs.

Problem is - he is out injured and will be for the next three or four weeks. Shame really as he was playing well. Celtic could do with him back on the field ASAP.

Gary Colemon looked good at getting into the right position at the right time for Saints yesterday. Wished he had been on the pitch more so I could have seen more of him

I'm not convinced yet.

Don't get me wrong, Wheeler is a good, tidy footballer and has a good step on him, but Eastmond frightens teams with his pace, footwork and raw ability. He's showing more and more of his kicking game, his passing game and organisational skills, which suggests he has all the hallmarks of becoming a quality number 7.
