It may be wishful thinking, but I've a feeling we are going to turn a corner this coming year.

I also think Saints are going to have a couple of seasons rebuilding.

I think Wigan will have a good run, and then we will be challenging for silverware with Saints hot on our heels.

2024 - Wigan
2025 - Wigan
2026 - Leeds
2027 - Wigan
2028- Saints

Wishful thinking. Leeds squad next year is worse than this season’s and the coach is not a top coach. They are now just another Hull FC, a team meandering aimlessly from season to season in mediocrity. No players want to join Leeds anymore. Other clubs have things going on, they are desired. Wigan and Leigh are so hot right now.

Are you joking? The team is shaping up to be way stronger than last seasons, and even before. We have got actual play makers in the spine and a back line with players now playing in their natural position. The spine of Ackers, Frawley, Croft and Miller is head and shoulders above O'Conner, Sezer, Austin and Myler.

The recruitment so far has been one with a show of intent. Goudemand is the only real questionable one. We need another big prop, but we have the cap space available, the time to recruit one, and the intent to get the right man. Last season was always going to be one of clearing out the dead-wood, and we have replaced everyone of those that left with better players. Walters aside. Not bad for a club that 'nobody wants to join'. We have already out-negotiated some of the 'desirable' clubs with a couple of signings.

Leighs new recruits are hardly sending shivers down anyone's spines. They're all Championship quality players, and a couple of first choice injuries (they were lucky last year) will show the weakness of their squad.

If you think Leeds are going to embarrass themselves again this year, you are in for a rude awakening.

There has been plenty of chances to take a SL crown from outside of the Leeds/Saints/Wigan, they just haven't quite hit the mark on the final day of the season.

It isn't like in Scotland where it is normally just 2 football teams in the finals, at least.

It won't really take much of a big step for the likes of Wire or Cats to take the GF, well, Cats.... ok.......

Hull FC, Warrington x 3, Castleford, Catalans x 2, Salford.

On 8 occasions these other teams have been there with a chance and each time it’s the same. On 8 occasions they just happened to have “not quite hit he mark”. It’s fundamental. Never happens.

It's strange that 6 different clubs have topped the league over the last 10 seasons, yet the same old 3 clubs keep winning the title. Leeds have won 8 titles but have only topped the league 3 times. Hmm.

It’s like there’s some invisible barrier which goes beyond ability, that these other teams can never overcome.

Didn’t realise it was that bad. No title in over half a century and 4 grand final losses seems to be too much baggage to overcome.

It reminds me a bit of that line from The Simpsons: “The road to the Super Bowl is long and pointless”

When the Champions were the side that topped the league, the end of season Premiership had much more cachet than the LLS does. You wonder about the extent to which the better teams are sort of going through the motions during the regular rounds, saving themselves for when it matters.

Craig Harrison said recently that he’d been talking to a SL player thinking of trying their hand in Australia. As well as the money side of things, the player admitted that it is just hard to ‘get up’ for some SL fixtures.
