A day after Gallop warned the Wests Tigers superstar faced deregistration if he played rugby union in the off-season, Marshall's camp said they were pressing ahead with the rebel plan. And they declared any attempt to black-ban Marshall from the NRL in future years would represent a "restraint of trade'' they would pursue in court. Someone tell them this isn't 1940's Germany. Benji Marshall is off contract at the end of this season. He wants to stay at the West Tigers, but like most elite players, Rugby League is not willing to pay him what he is worth. To make up the shortfall between what he is worth, and what the Tigers will pay him, Marshall has looked at going over to play Rugby Union during the upcoming off season, then coming back to the Tigers in time for the start of next season.
