I wouldn't be surprised to see him playing in the French Top 14 at all, at some point. However if playing for Fiji in the Olympics disqualifies him from representing the Wallabies in XV-a-side then playing in the NRL again makes the most sense.

I think its a tad unfair to class him as the SBW type. He sacrificed a lot of money to have a crack at the NFL and he didn't do badly at all. I don't see Sam Burgess getting the same sort of labelling for going to rugby.

I expect him to be back in the NRL for 2017. Super League clubs won't be able to compete for a player like Hayne, even as a marquee player, as the NRL's tv deal is so superior.

If Hayne makes the Fiji Olympic Rugby 7s team, and stars in a medal winning match, he could still go back to the NFL. The prestige of an Olympic medal carries a lot of weight in many sports. I am sure San Diego, Michigan and others would seriously consider him again if San Francisco 49ers didn't. I don't think you can underestimate the fact that Aussies would much prefer to be lazing around a beach in their free time either. The North of England isn't really attractive as a move.

Living and playing in Sydney to the Californian sunshine of San Francisco to a cold wet Thursday night playing in front of 3,000 in Salford, when he could easily go back to Sydney, the Gold Coast, etc. Can't see it somehow.
