On the south coast with a load of retired folk. Makes me feel young.

That's why you are being castigated, you are demeaning the act by offering an excuse. your paragraph saying flower was a tool is negated by your saying he was hit by LH. you are actually making an excuse for Flower's behaviour.

Have another read of what you have written and replace the LH with Matty Smith and replace Flower with, say, Ryan Bailey or Gareth Hock* and tell me you wouldn't see outrage if someone defended such an act by say, "he hit him first"?

*apologies to both Leeds and my lot but we all know those two are not well liked by opposition fan

You either don't understand what I wrote or you're being deliberately obtuse. There is a massive difference between a reason and an excuse. If someone ran over and elbowed me in the head is react too. That I can understand. What followed no one can offer an excuse for. Flower needs more self control and deserves whatever punishment is handed out.

As I've said previously the lunch on the floor was one of the worst things I've seen on a pitch for a long time. I'd expect a very long ban.

He retaliated to Flower hitting him round the back of the head. So not entirely innocent but Flower started it and finished it.

I find it remarkable that even after that Wigan fans are trying to defend it ...unbelieveable lot they are !

Not trying to justify anything, genuinely couldn't see what happened or the big screen replay.

If he retaliated to somethint Lance did then probably 2-4 match ban, otherwise 5ish probs.

On the game, Saints were poor to only score 16 points against 12 men. Ben cost us the game for sure.

Re: Ben Flower : Sat Oct 11, 2014 8:09 pm
Look, there's no need for this thread.

There is aggressive confrontation : Flower's first swipe at Hohaia, Hohaia's retaliation.

Then there is looking at an unconscious, defenceless man lying prone at your feet, and hitting him full in the face as hard as you can. That is disgusting, cowardly assault. Do that in any town centre on a Saturday night and you are going to jail.

I don't want to see Flower on a rugby field ever again.

Nope. But you have to be very bloody guilty of something very bloody bad for it to mitigate, even the slightest bit what flower did.

He punched an unconscious man, a man he knocked out. That's the only relevant information. Flower did that. Whatever his reasons, motivation, temper, provocation, flower punched someone in the head who was entirely incapable of defending themselves whilst that person was suffering a traumatic brain injury he had caused.

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

So pleased that a rugby team won against a team whose gameplan by their moron coach is to hurt opposition players at every occasion and hope to get the win

What's a midday meal and its positioning got to do with anything?

And I am being neither obtuse or do I lack comprehension of your arguement (and it shouldn't be an arguement really should it?) you seem to be missing the lead up to LH swiping out in your defence of mitigation for Flower's actions (and that is exactly what it is).

I. like the vast number on this thread, are neither Saints or Wigan followers. I don't hold bias to either side but I do hate this attitude of blind following or partially sighted following (of which you are very guilty).

You haven't come out and gone uber Flower's defence (as did happen with a few Leeds fans during the recent investigation) but you are defending him by saying LH caused his own beating.

Have a think about that, don't think for one minute.
