SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Yeah, I agree. For now though, there is no point in going through with P&R just because we feel like it should be done on principle. When the Championship gets up to scratch, then I will be a big advocate of bringing back P&R. You have to say too that the Championship is a much better competition this year than in previous seasons. I'm certainly enjoying it a lot more.

Obviously at the moment i'm not

Is it better ?

On the pitch ? maybe , off the pitch no , the lack of a clear objective is making it difficult for clubs to attract sponsorship and investment

And this will get worse

Yes it does. No one wants to finish bottom. The fact they are playing for prize money as well means there is something on the line. And the fact that they could still perhaps get into the play-offs means there is still something to play for.

So the fact that you are trying to find arguments against something that isn't the case means you're an idiot.

So a team doesnt want to come bottom (to save a few quid)..lol, they shouldnt want to come bottom, because they my loose their job and not be in SL no more, not for a bit of cash.
And whats the point in getting to the play off's, if your not going up...yeah really exsiting that

If they come bottom, then YES...just start the transfer window at the same time and after both comps have ended...whala....know if you cant make it in your first season back, no exuses...your going back down...maybe next time, ull learn that bit more.....isnt that whats sports about?
Maybe we can repeat it 100 times, and then you will learn that there is absolutely no sense in relegating a full-time team into a semi-professional league, stripping that team of its foundations and then expecting them to have any chance of competing the following year against established teams. If we banned transfers until after both competitions had ended, then no clubs would be able to make any plans for the following season. Players' job security would be up in the air, the whole thing would become a complete waste of time.

Isn't that the way it should be? Clubs should have always been putting emphasis on their own club and the product, rather than basing their marketing on 'come and watch us because we might get into Super League one day', despite the fact that under the previous system I honestly couldn't imagine a club outside Salford, Celtic or the relegated Castleford winning automatic promotion for the foreseeable future. If clubs are now being forced to focus on developing their business rather than a virtually unattainable and pointless goal, then surely that is a good thing?

From Hull and now trying to spread the RL word in Liverpool, and failing dismally.

If Super League players can't play without the threat of relegation it will say more about them than it will of the system.

So the simple answer is to have the Chamionship finish before the SL , like we did back in 2001 when Widnes mangaged to recruit well enough to finish 7 th in 2002

Not rocket science is it

But it isn't viable as long as you have expansion teams in as they might get relegated

That is the problem not that a heartland club might go down , they would survive

The problem we all have is that the RFL dont have the balls to admit what the problem really is

If they did we would accept it , us being straight talking northen folk and not souther ' jessies '

So what's the point in having play-offs in the SL then? Nobody goes up?

In fact, what's the point in having champions in SL? There is no promotion is there?

No amount of bleating is going to change things.

Clubs in the Championship have to grasp the bull by the horns and make the competition a success in it's own right. Increased prize monies and sponsorship will help. Weekly live TV coverage should help to bring in sponsorship. It's up to these clubs - working with the RFL, to improve the standards in this league. Widnes are doing it. So are Halifax. So are Barrow and Featherstone.
