So SPOTY was a big and important thing - until Kev didn't win, and now it's worthy of scorn and derision; and fixed?
RL fans elevated themselves for a brief moment in coming together to support Sinfield's nomination - then quickly reverted to type when he came second. Ah well - it was good while it lasted.

Have you just sensationalised 1 or 2 tongue in cheek comments on here, are you a tabloid journalist by any chance?

Very true, shame about that, blinkers are back on!
The guy is the world heavyweight boxing champion. Its a sport person of the year award. Only modern sensitivities (and views like yours) could prevent a worthy contender like Fury from being nominated. If it is truly a sport personality award then Jesus we have given it to Murray who by his own words is a dull as a weekend in Worthing.
Murray is world no 2 unlike Fury, Hamilton, Mo, JIH, etc etc
I hope you enjoyed your sports equivalent of Question Time.
Ps did you not hear Fury apologise??
I think when you've called for pedophilia to be legalised, told women their place is in a kitchen or on their backs and called two of your rivals "gay lovers", being Heavyweight champion of the World can't rescue you!
"One of them is homosexuality being legal in countries, one of them is abortion and the other is paedophilia. Who would have thought in the 50s and 60s that those first two would be legalised"
That's pretty unforgivable!

Unsurprising comment from someone who thought RL fans too tribal to get behind one of our games greats in the interests of our game.
I think when you've called for pediphilia to be legalised, told women their place is in a kitchen or on their backs and called two of your rivals "gay lovers", being Heavyweight champion of the World can't rescue you!
How about you actually find what he said in context.
I'm paraphrasing here, but he says that he thinks the world will end if paedophilia is legalised. He talks about a trinity of evil (homosexuality, abortion and paedophilia) and says that two of them have already been legalised, which would have been considered crazy talk 50 years ago. So he says the idea that paedophilia one day being legal is not as outlandish as you might think, and the world will end when it happens.
Ridiculous religious mumbo jumbo of course, but really not that offensive.
Tbh I find the fact that you have effectively accused him of wanting paedophilia made legal based on misreading half a quote more offensive than what he actually said.

Then you're too easily offended!
If that's the context in which he said that, which is not the way it's been widely reported all over the world, then as always I'm happy to be corrected. It's still a very stupid and ridiculous thing to say unless you agree that abortions under any circumstance, homosexuals and pedophiles are the same.
Even if we excuse his ridiculous, insulting and outlandish rant about the above three subjects that still leaves his silly misogynistic quote about women.
You defend him if you like but I'm pretty insulted by what he said!

I don't agree with a word of what he said, and I agree that its a shame that people still hold those views. I am also however strongly against censorship. So if that is how he feels then that's up to him, and I would have been disappointed if the heavyweight champ was banned from a sporting competition of sporting achievement purely because he said some things that people don't like. He hasn't commited a crime, he's just made some silly comments.
