a rubbish football club with a tangoman manager, a big bridge and loads of boats. voted the worse place to live in England, high unemployment, high crime, the majority of housing stock being Terraced. levels of disability and mental illness are some of the country's' highest.
Frankly im not surprised you get big away crowds i'd want to get away too. Home crowds, well you'd need the escapism.
wasn't some poor guy kicked to death in warrington by a bunch of chavs?
look on your own doorstep before criticising others

And typically with Warrington not one of them was from Warrington. EDIT After researching i found that there was Warrington lads involved though a couple were from crewe i beleive.

pot calling the kettle black there, there are worse places than Hull i have seen them on my away travels following FC.
BTW kerry katonas from warrington enough said
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS
They should be your right, as I said at the start of the thread hopefully clubs see the sucess of the deal wigan did with Heinz and use that idea to help boost their attendances, the bonus being it seems Wigan got the money from the tickets (although I would guess not the full price but money they wouldn't have got otherwise)
Fans are half the problem though in a way, those who go to games complain if their club gives out free/discounted tickets because they have paid for them. Fans of other clubs will always have a dig about the freebies being given out but if it gets more people through the gates and clubs can afford it then surely its good for the clubs to do it? getting fans through the gates the first time is a good start to the clubs to encourage them to come back for more?
Its the main problem with RL IMO if all the grounds were full each week we would see other things start to fall into place.
The Wigan crowd is a perfect demonstration of how those supporters who come on here and moan than "x didn't bring many away fans so we got a poor crowd" are talking out of their ar$e.
Wigan new that they'd have an end with 5,000 empty seats on Friday and yet, rather than sit on their hands and accept it, they went out there, got their marketing team working and came up with a great idea to get new people through the door.
Other clubs have done similar things for the same fixture, it really isn't that hard and if any club feels the need to blame away fans for their pitiful crowds, then their Super League status should really be reconsidered.

The 17th best in England and Wales. Better than any football clubs in Newcastle, Middlesborough and, er... Warrington (who have a mid-table team in the 8th level of the English football system)

a big bridge
Fifth largest single-span suspension bridge in the world (longest in the world for 17 years until, as per usual, Japan had to make something bigger!). Better than your crappy little transporter bridge which isn't even in use anymore.

We have got a fair few boats, yeah.
We've also got the world's only submarium, our own telephone company, twice as many SL clubs, a university and a dock.
You've managed to list a few things for us though and tried to be patronising about it. The funny thing is, it's probably more than you could list for your own town. Apart from a few churches (which everywhere has) and an IKEA, Warrington actually has nothing!

I always wonder how many of the fans who complain about the amount of fans Catalan/Quins/Celtic bring to games would travel the distances they do every other week!
I have long said that clubs shouldn't rely on visiting fans to boost attendances, they should be working to get home fans there week in week out and see any away fans as a boost more than anything.

Well said.
What is it that Wigan actually did to get more in? I know it was something to do with Heinz, but what exactly?

So your point was what exactly?
