No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.

It started last week with Sadler suggesting an ownership model where the SL bosses put their money in but someone else spent it for them.As one major dream dies another is created out of the ashes, just like a phoenix. :D

Why do you state that 'Super League bosses put their money in',yet they rely on the broadcast monies allocated to them;while you scoff at Argylle who has put millions in without reward, other than the side gaining promotions?

Why do you scoff at suggestions, and comparisons/contrasts with other sports, when a journalist may want to expand the sport both geographically and financially?

Why does a contracting sport, played in a smaller area of one country, with a contracting broadcast deal and dwindling attendances, and dwindling band of ageing rich males, appeal so much to you?

YES your right TotalRL ran with it as did League Weekly forever trumpeting this new dawn. I would not mind but these RL publications surely had a duty to their largely traditional readership to be a bit more realistic, and report a bit more accurately rather than be a fanfare for a phoney club that would badly damage the game.

Sure Superleague rightly refused to put the red carpet out and refused the idea of taking in phoney clubs, but what they DID do was a deal with Rimmer that gave TWP entry to Superleague and that was a really strange and damaging thing to do. TWP never had an automatic right to promotion as a guest club but the reports were Rimmer conceded an end to the Middle eights and MPG in return for TWP's promotion. ......

The publications and journalists are doing their job properly. You can't discredit them just because they don't correlate with your fanciful and outdated views.

As for guest and member status's, the sooner that model is abolished, the better.

And finally, the deal regarding Toronto and mpg never happened.

What "Next season" TWP are offloading all their players as we head towards the autumn, and Argyle is finished with bankrolling them. He knows he's not wanted in Superleague so that's no fun for a guy who likes a good laugh and banter at his games. He is wanted in Melbourne where he can now "buy in" to the Storm where he'll have a great time.

You need to understand with respect a lot of things aren't real. The posters laying bait all the time on here aren't genuine, and Argyle certainly isn't genuine about why he's packing it in. That he's packing it in is very understandable.

His $30 Million "investment" came with no return whatsoever. A massive loss. Not one TV dollar came from that not one decent player.

But the idea they are carrying on is just the usual smokescreen TWP are poor at creating, but the RL media here are even poorer at exposing. The solution to this If TWP are to remain is to allow TWP to start in SL next season with their fair share of the SKY money and an exemption from relegation similar to the one given to the Dragons on their introduction to SL.

This then allows them to develop a team that can compete in the competition in a way that encourages paying fans through the gate and natives to want to play RL at the highest level thus stopping the reliance on English produced players along with Australasian/ Pacific Islands ones.

After three years the club should be judged on the original criteria set for Catalans in that 75% of its first team Squad should be French or Canadian or to be fair 60% is a fairer target with the sanction for non compliance expulsion from UK RL competitions.

This would then give both parties and ruling bodies the chance to expand but with a set criteria that stops the expansion teams breaking the rules and an ultimate sanction if they do.

The native player quota should be 20% year 1, 40% year 2 and 60% year 3.

In each year any % shortfall from this is deducted from the SKY money so if in year two they still have 20% native players they would lose 20% of their central funding.

This should also be reapplied to Catalans, but without the relegation break that they have already had as they have been funded long enough to have got near to their original target of 75%.

This way all parties are fairly treated and we have objective goals for the expansion teams

Would you apply this also to English teams who sign up countless Aussies and Kiwi's?

Don't go bringing facts and logic into it!

There are two distinct camps, one wears flat caps, the other doesn't.

I actually don't include the various owners of Bradford because none of them ever claimed to have a pot to pee in. The RFL foisting them on us time and time again, whilst turning down people with genuine wealth, means we never have had the chance of enjoying a minted but fickle chancer.

All teams have seven overseas spots from next year so why would that make a difference, the English teams should have 75% UK out of a 28 man squad.
The difference would be for Catalan the aim should be home grown 75% are French and Toronto et all 75% North American SIMPLES...

In other words they develop their own home grown players which should lead to amateur competition starting up which is surely the only sustainable long term goal to produce players and expand worldwide participation in RL, which is surely the ultimate path to larger overseas markets for TV and sponsorship

I assume you may refer to Marwan Koukash? IIRC he put a bid in in his's wife's name. The restraunter didn't get far then that Chalmers bloke threw his weight, but no money, about. Let's hope somehow big Nige can make something viable for someone to come in and invest at a reasonable sum.

Unlike Argyles £18,000,000 he blew over the period of him being a rich RL club owner. When Perez was at Bradford I had hopes he'd seen the light and was working for the good of the game here rather than against it, I thought he was looking to get Bulls investment.

This is another great post in spite of the weight of disingenuous dialogue  .

If Catalans were stopped from signing everyone they could from here and Australia/NZ then it would make them have to put in player development systems rather than claim some junior club is their Academy  and a senior small club nearby is their Reserve team  . They could also sign a few Toulouse lads as well. Moan as much as they want they have a whole game to draw players from.

OK they may argue that French RL despite the presence of a Superleague club is really rather limited in the numbers who play and the talent that doesn't automatically choose Rugby Union. But if so (and IS probably so as the French test team was poor) what are they doing pinching a spot in Superleague?

Whatever it is it isn't what was agreed 2006

I too thought he was going to be involved with the Bradford take over, with him now having 7 or 8 contacts wanting to be involved in the game let's see where this is going to lead too
