was watching an nfl doco. on one of their teams and they used the term bomb to describe those long high passes from quaterback to running back and i think gibson took that idea, realized you cant throw the ball forward in RL and adapted it to a "bomb" kick we have

the nrls membership drive has been a massive, massive success
...If only ESL would pay attention to the NRL when it comes to marketing, promotion and these sorts of things.......I appreciate that the NRL is a far bigger league in Australia than ESL in England, but still, I am sure there are plenty of RL Fans who would attend games all weekend if they could do so on a decently priced system.
I even suggested that ESL clubs should offer a 50 quid add on to ST;s that would give them entry to Championship and C1 games as well all season....extra revenue for thses lower league clubs and additional residuals from food, merchandise etc....

Ironically GF, even the London Broncos had a membership drive before the NRL.
latest numbers, anyone know how to paste the graphic of this year vs last in the link?
titans will go between 8000 - 10,000 at the end vs 5441 last year so clearly a good response to the new AFL team
manly showing very strong growth, close to last years total already but from a low base
souths at nearly 16,000 now is brilliant, can see them getting 30,000 or more when they win a GF
souths are the ones to watch, each year they add around 3000 - 5000 members just off their good marketing
then as on field form gets better theyll only add more so as they become a regular semi final team they should be at 20,000 ticketed, and 30,000 total.
i can see souths getting crowds of 40,000 - 60,000 5 - 10 years down the track, they are going gangbusters

you could see the difference it is already starting to make last year in crowds, particularly Sydney ones. Far fewer sub 10k crowds and more consistent 13-15k ones. Still a long way to go and some teams need to get their act togther to translate their latent support into members and attendees but things looking good.
Poor showing from Melbounre, given the cities membership culture, the need to attract some new ownership and the season from hell last year to see they haven't even got memberships for sale yet is staggering!
excellent initiative by the sea eagles. get them in young and make them hardcore fans for life.
plus id guess the adults have to get a full price ST
manlys crowds at 14,000 just arent good enough for a club that has made 2 recent grand finals, winning one
covering such a large geographical area its important they get their crowds up
You talk about poor turnouts @ manly. Have a good look in your own back yard. You got 18,000 last year for a semi final with manly at Kogarah is that any better? And that was the semis.

Sadly for Wigan as soon as Maguire gets an offer from an NRL club he will be on the plane home before you can say 'meat and potato pie'

As far as gauging the potential in the South West, I'd have thought the rumoured Wembley international double-header at the end of the season would be good way to do this.
