It will be interesting, if in 40 years time this Sintellins team rack up enough honours to surpass Wigan overall, whether that will prompt a reframing and suddenly all of history will be taken into account. At the current rate, they will eventually surpass Wigan, and become the most successful sporting organisation on the planet.

Wigan winning the league in those days was an achievement on par with Leigh winning the Championship this year. Wigan spent far more than Leigh compared to the rest of the league too. Sure Leeds spent a bit too and were their Featherstone, but the vast majority of the league had no chance. It was telling that the year they levelled the playing field, Wigan suddenly lost the trophies they'd had for a decade.

You do know that Leeds were the first full time Rugby League club don't you?

Wigan and Widnes followed soon after. St Helens were more or less full time, none of their overseas signings had jobs here and like Leeds they spent big but to no avail.

You and fans like you really do try to re-write history. Must try harder

Only one club had to sell their spiritual home to cover the debts their accrued spending big, and now have to play second fiddle to a third rate football club.

It was because of the cost of the Whitbread Stand, it went massively over cost due to old mining works. Carry on trying to re-write history though.

Latics are actually second rate (Championship don't you know).
