It could be argued that the Catalan players won that game despite the coach. They were playing for their own pride and economic future. They surely noticed that the crowd was down drastically (6,400) on their great crowds from last year (over 9,000). They were killing their own future contracts by not performing. Note especially that it was the French players Thomas Bosc (not the mysterious "Bosh" that Dead Head Davies and Ray the Frogman kept referring to), and David Ferriol, who were the star performers in the second half.

It is a fact that Walters has caused displeasure among the players because of his behavior. According to Karl Harrison, Walters criticism of individual players by name in the newspapers was not appreciated by the players.

I would now suggest that he be given four more chances. If he cannot win half the ensuing four games then he must be retired as an apprentice.

Salford beat a Hull side that had been demoralised by their decisive defeat at the hands of the Harlequins RL in London last week. It is hard for a side to come back after being humiliated in west London.

Walters had no record at all in Oz, and was one of the assistants dumped by bennett a while back. Anyone who rates Shane Perry needs their head examining. The guy looked just about average playing alongside a white-hot Lockyer - every other time he's shown he's Qld Cup at best.

These are very important points that you make.

The whole process of vetting and choosing coaches at Les Catalans needs to be brought under some scrutiny.

I would think that someone besides Bernard Guasch, preferably someone with money invested in the club who knows something about the game, (like the flamboyant, businessminded marketing genius Paul Fares for example), should be invited to participate in the process -- starting with a mid season coach evaluation in 4 weeks time.

been really disappointed with catalans

walters never did anything coaching in oz and cats have paid the price for risking too many times on unproven coaches

The way Hagan destroyed the Knights and Eels, you've got to be kidding me.

Yes he took the Knights to a GF win, but that was on the back of an amazing squad that had been built for him. A few years later, recruitment, development and results out the window.

Parramatta, same story. Jason Taylor got it spot on when he told Hagan that he was f*cking up what Smith had built, while Smith is rebuilding what he f*cked up at Newcastle.

What a bloody stupid comment. Try being demoralised by conceding an average of 38 points per game.... the feeling Hull would have had doesn't compare to how demoralised the Salford players have been feeling in recent weeks.

The fact remains that Les Catalans squeaked in at home against a team that was missing star players Glenn Morrison and David Solomona.

My point still stands: Walters has four weeks to prove that he can win half of the remaining four games. Otherwise he goes. I hope that Bernard shares my view.

Don't bite, LF

Albert is one of the more amusing 'trolls' on the site - I always look forward to reading his comments - better than half the boring crap spouted by some of the neanderthals lurking around here - even if it is a load of rubbish it's funny all the same.
