Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

Amazing - their crowds for international games are so much larger than their counterparts in RL - how does a minority sport attract 70k+ for a game in the heartland of RL?

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

Hopefully, the sdvent of the Independent Comission will put the self-serving News faction to bed.

Surely the question should be; can Fox afford to lose the NRL games, more than can the NRL afford to lose Fox?

great news and a good story.....but I do worry. Expected 1 Billion,,,,,I expect Pizza to arrive in 20 minutes when I order it...but it doesn't alway happen.

The figure of 1 billion is constantly mentioned by RL journalists. It's as if they believe if they say it enough times, it is what the deal will be worth. If the NRL gets 800 million (as I think they will) then will these journalists turn on the NRL for failing, when in reality, the NRL never said 1 Billion....

...In short, we can all speculate on what we think will happen, but none of us will be part of the negotiation...and therefore that's all it would be...speculation.

Read the Masters article if you really can't work out what conflict is involved in any discussion involving News Limited and rugby league TV deals.

Concentrate on this bit...
"It has been hard for the NRL to achieve a just price when it has been ruled by News Ltd directors who sit on one side of a table making an offer and then run around the other side of the table to gleefully accept it."

I read it now. Thanks. Oh that conflict. I didn't get what you're on about first up.

Apparently working at an NRL club means that I'm meant to know what an article said before I read it. Sorry Eels, I wasn't born in Gallifrey. Eels fan, give it a rest mate. You're style of posting is what made a lot of people walk away from this forum. It's just so unnecessary. Really.

Excellent. As Masters clearly shows there is only one reason the NRL wont get more than AFL; the aforementioned conflict of interest...

In your opinion that is.

In my opinion, it is not a very objective article.

He also argued AFL has higher numbers on six capital city ratings, conveniently ignoring rugby league's huge following in NSW and Queensland regional areas.

....the author seems to have an axe to grind. Advertisers (the ones who pay the TV companies so that they in turn can pay the sports) care about spread as well as numbers.

$800,000,000 is what the NRL will get IMO and until they get WA, Adelaide and another state on board then they will get less than the other lot. IMO that is.

Not in my opinion, in the media industry that holds true.

Re advertising, 60% of the national spend is in RL areas even greater than the population advantage in RL areas...

NRL wont get under 1 billon even while getting shafted due to the conflict.

As for axe's, Masters whole family has a reputaton for high quality writing of integrity including his mother and brother.
