Re: 2013 Player Movements : Tue Dec 17, 2013 2:39 pm
Still don't get the levels of mental excitement from Salford fans. H is a workhorse, a tackling machine but that's all he does. He rarely breaks the line or shows hands. Yes, a good signing and I'd expect any fans to be pleased, but it's all very OTT. I realise he's left while in contract but that smells more of KashKow throwing money at him rather than any love of Salford - especially in what would have been his testimonial year.

Anyway, good luck to him, he's a top lad and has been a great servant to Wigan, he'll do well at Solly.

As for 'coming home', ain't he from Swinton?

I can't think of many better in Super League than Harrison Hansen in what he does. As you say, he's a workhorse who does all the hard graft every successful team needs. An example of this was seen in the Wigan v Leeds game last season at the DW, Joel Moon made a break at a point in the game which would have got Leeds back in with a shout and Hansen chased the man down and not only made a try saving tackle but also knocked the ball free from Moons hands.

The lad is class pure and simple.

It's also a big thing for us as he is a Salford lad, his Dad played for us and we've just signed a player under contract from the double winning Champions who is in his prime.

'Mental excitement'? You're damn right.

Exactly one year ago today the club were meeting fans to explain what a hole we were in, and we were left feeling that it was very unlikely we would be able to start the 2013 season. 12 months on we have signed our 14th new player. And it's Harrison Hansen, who was due a testimonial and was set to play in a World Club Challenge match in Australia for his one and only club, the recent double winners...

Plus he turned down a big long term offer from Wigan to go to Salford.

Oh I'm not doubting his credentials, but you haven't signed Greg Inglis, you've signed a very good 2nd rower. The way Solly fans are going on you'd think the big Melbourne trio had signed and were bringing the Burgess boys with them.

And he's definitely from Swinton.

God, don't we know it.

He's moved simply because Kashkow has thrown a fortune at him. The way I heard it H originally turned him down in order to see out his testimonial year at Wigan even though Dr K offered to beat whatever he expected to make, and then join Salford in 2015. The only thing that would change his mind is cold hard cash. No player in their right minds would make such a move unless it was a hugely rich deal.

Obviously HH isnt anywhere near the Greg Inglis standard, but he is the best signing we have made in the last god knows how many years. We have every right to be excited.

Of course he's moved for a decent pay rise. But hopefully because he also sees the potential of winning a trophy or two with a side that is building from nothing. Especially when we start to plunder the NRL (thanks for the tips)

And you may be bored of hearing about our how many new signings we've made, etc, but not half as tired as we Salford fans are of seeing Dr Koukash's name spelt in 'amusing' styles...

Cronus,

Give it a break, we are entitled after god knows how many years to enjoy our time in the sun. And we have enticed a player who is in contract to leave and paid a transfer fee for him. Can't remember that happening ever for Salford, only the other way around (from us to just about every other team).

BTW, Swinton falls within the City of Salford. Splitting hairs I know but if you must go on about it just know he is from Salford.

I think we will miss his graft in defence!
Salford have made a good buy and its sound move to secure his future, good luck to HH just not against Wigan.
