To be honest, I don't think the game is growing that much. I think it's about time that RL supporters realised that there are people out there, who go every week, who react in this way when things don't go their way. And have been going for years.

Or how about when Salford fans threw bottles and a FLAIR onto the pitch at the Jungle, narrowly missing the in goal judge and Richard Owen, nothing said about that either.

You mean apart from Salford banning supporters who were involved in that incident? Dealt with quickly and efficiently.

What did the RFL do though?

There's the solution then. Castleford supporters must undergo an anger management course before being handed their ticket.

There are plenty of ways to deal with emotions such as anger and frustration. Aggression should be way down the priority list for any civilised individual.

I never said anything about anyone being civilised.
I think I've been quite clear about my feelings towards the actions of certain fans.
What I am trying to do is offer something more to the discussion other than let's make an example of Cas.

And as for the solution to the problem, a more consistent and competent refereeing display would have, in my opinion, meant no problems at all.

As long as the club show they are dealing with the incident then is there a need for the RFL to intervene?

Fans knowing how to conduct themselves would have helped, as would Stewards who could deal with the situation more competently than it seems some of them did.

Blaming the ref for the behaviour of some fans is really grasping at straws imo - should we let their team win every week just to stop them getting upset at a loss?

The fans at cas, unfortunately, have become quite used to losing over the past couple of years, yet we haven't seen this type of reaction before. What I am proposing is it is the manner in which they lost which went some way to causing this reaction, specifically the conduct of the referee. That is something, I feel, which should be included in any RFL investigation.

As for your suggestion for letting Cas win every week...

So if Cas knew who threw the bottles and banned em the RFL wouldn't have to bother investigating?

Having a flair in the ground in the first place was against the law, throwing it further broke the law, the club deserved at the very least a fine for that - not just 'fine you've banned him'

Yes I have a problem with people showing lack or respect to the club polices and the other teams.

Ok Lets say I bring a group of people in your garden. We’ll swear and carry on verbelly (not that I’d waste my time doing so) until you’ve had enough and request for us to stop. But why should we stop when you do exactly the same thing every week (or other) at rugby league grounds despite polite request asking you not to?

Will you ring the police if we don’t stop?

As long as people aren't nastily abusive, or causing people physical harm or threat I couldn't give two hoots what they said tbh.

I wish everyone would read bramleyrhino's post two or three times just to get it through some thick skulls

Mr bramleyrhino speaks a lot of sense.

I'm not necessarily on the "make an example of...." bandwagon. What I would suggest is that the RFL act on any report from the referee, question the club stadium / operations manager to see how such an incident could be avoided and, where appropriate, have a standardised finacial penalty structure in place to ensure that all clubs take their ground safety obligations seriously.

I'm not suggesting for a second that Castleford don't, but clearly there was a failing somewhere that meant that they could not control the behaviour of a section of their supporters which, as a result, put other people's safety at risk. How Castleford deal with that to prevent it happening again is more important that how they are dealt with retrospectively.
