Incorrect. So every supporter is fickle? Does every Wigan supporter agree with every single topic on an internet forum? Your basing your opinion of Wigan fans off an internet forum....Not very credible.







But we are a big club though, aren't we? Also, to have gained 50% more support since our glory years ended actually speaks wonder for our fans, doesn't it?







Unfortunately, most 'experiences' that supporters have ''witnessed'' in regards to fans are from RLFANS.COM.

Correct, but to Cas folk Wheldon Rd is architecturally the Taj Mahal so they are a bit blinkered.

My experience of wigan fans from being unlucky enough to grow up near wigan and go to college in wigan is that a hell of a lot of them are arrogant and stuck in the glory days thinking they have a god given right to win everything.



Now I know a lot aren't like that but I can understand why these people have made it so some fans aren't keen on certain aspects of the wigan fan base.

No, I was using the fans on your forum as an example I could prove with links (or just point people towards your board). I don't have links to what people have said on Facebook, or MSN, or other forums, or in person at games.



You're one of the big 6, but not quite as high up as you think you are. At a guess, 50% of that 50% were attracted to the club by the thought of glory brought by success in recent years (sort of like Man Utd in wendyball). I'm much more impressed with the crowds that Hull FC, Hull KR and Catalans pull in despite being without glory for a number of years, if at all.



I witnessed the two attempts by Wigan fans to kick off at the HJ in the space of a week. I've witnessed the Wigan walk hundreds and hundreds of times over the years, both in person and on the telebox. I'm basing my opinion on what I have seen and experienced myself, which is why I haven't mentioned the facilities of Quins, Hull KR or Celtic, as I haven't experienced them in person.



Stop trying to change peoples opinions to be the same as yours, that just proves why people have a dislike about some your fans.



If you want me to build an opinion on every single Wigan fan, then I will require around £30k to fund my research. I have to base my opinion on Wigan fans as a whole, on what stands out the most (see my point about Celtic fans earlier)

fans: warrington, the abuse they gave matt king was out of order, the days of the old warrington fans spirit has long gone!

as far as i can see, your point is that people shouldnt think bad of Wigan fans because they have the right to moan and whinge if they lose to 'small' teams like Huddersfield because Wigan used to be the best team and should always be 'better' than most teams.



This topic is about people's individual opinions - we dont have to justify why we have chosen those clubs we have do we?

Out of what I've been to:



Worst Facilities - I'd say Wakefield, but I think that Belle Vue despite its antiquated and shabbyness, has quite a bit of a culture about it. It has the memoirs of where rugby league came from - working class, part-time background.



Similarly, Cas's is just the same but as it is about other sides, I'd have to say that Hull KR's and Salford's are the worst. The good news is that Hull KR have plans to rectify that, whereas Salford's is still very much just a pipe dream.



Worst Pitch - The worst pitch I've seen is probably the JJB, but that's mainly attributed to the fact it has a football team playing on it too.



Worst Fans - It would be wrong to label a minority as the worst fans. All fans have an element of their fanbase which the sport could do without.

Wrong. My point is that Wigan supporters shouldn't be seen as arrogant if they think they should have beaten clubs such as Huddersfield, Wakefield and Castleford this season as Wigan have consistantly finished higher in the table than these clubs year upon year upto 2008, apart from the odd exeption.







Unless you're happy to come across as either jealous/bitter about Wigan and their postive/negative history, then yes.



Unfortunately, our history is where most negetive opinions of Wigan supporters stem from.

to be honest Alex BP- the fact that your questioning people's reasons for putting Wigan down is not helping people's opinions - your making yourself look like a bitter, moaning wigan fan - i'm sure you're not, although i've never met you so wouldnt even start commenting on you personally,but the attitude you have taken is one that a lot of fans see as bad about Wigan fans .



Rather than question why some people dont have a high opinion of Wigan fans just accept it rather than take issue with that particular person !.

But it wasn't just Wigan that I was defending.



I was defending clubs such as Wigan, Leeds and Hull KR.



But that seems to have been ignored and a Wigan v smaller clubs row has developed.

Thats because you have chosen to take everything personally.



The idea of this thread was for people to post their own opinions, just because someones opinion isn't the same as yours doesn't make them wrong, infact a lot of what you have posted has probably just made people realise there is some truth in the reason behind their views.
