Serious question,

How long will the taxman allow bradford to collect these pedges? i'd be surprised if they could get even 90% in within a couple of weeks and there's bound to be people who've pledged but wont pay.

Depends how much of the amount has come from corporate donations of larger denominations.£300k could be from 50 businesses and the rest could be from 6,000 fans. So, people like Steve O and corporate donors will probably pay up immediately - so this may calm the taxman.

Reality is we don't have a big city club waiting in the wings. Our game suffers as is with a massive perception problem about it being a minority sport, take out the cities and replace with small towns and it becomes a shed load harder to get corporate support, media deals etc etc.

Hate to pi55 on your cornflakes, but it is a Minority Sport.........too many clubs trying to be Man Utd and Bradford being a good example of this..

The 500k has been pledged as just confirmed by Sadler. Full story in the paper tomorrow as well as confirmation from the Bulls.

Bradford have been living on borrowed Time for years, time to step a side and be replaced by proper RL club like Halifax, featherstone, Leigh etc, let's face it if we hadn't of nicked fans off Huddersfield and vertuelly put teams like fax and the one true RL club representing bradford, the mighty cougers, out of business we would have no more than 300 deprived souls at odsal every week, borrowed time I tell yer!!!

Whatever anyone's opinions of what has occurred since Hood's bombshell, raising £500k in ten days is an amazing effort considering the times we live in. With donors chipping in so quickly there is no chance of Bradford going to the wall. These people deserve a better BoD though.

Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

This is something that really is sticking in my throat.

The board have got Bradford in this sorry mess, played the violin pulling on the heart strings of their supporters and the wider R.L public but not one of the board has stood down, or intend to....trying to pass the blame to R.B.S.

Nobody forced them to pursue and sign Harris (to this day still think they did this as a massive two fingered sign to Hetherington) and nobody forced them to throw God knows how much money at Matt Orford.

It is good to see the rl community come together to pay off bradfords debts. Well done media with all the exposure for the bulls cause.

Just like my team last year who recieved the same exposure in the media.. in fact not many gave a jot.

Regardless, Wakefield have come through stronger for it.

As for this bulls debt. Looks to be pulling some heartstrings to pay off some poor business management. I do feel for the supporters of bulls but can't help thinking they have been played like puppetts. The bod will be laughing their socks off having seeing their debts rubbed to 0 bit by bit.

Hope it all works out for bulls fans one way or another. Couldn't give a stuff about the management at bulls as they should reap what they sow.

I've read the AUP, thanks.

Re: Did Bradford hit the 500k? : Mon Apr 09, 2012 12:30 pm
I've just been reading Dave Hadfield's Up And Over from 2004, and came across this passage:

Dave Hadfield wrote:
Over the last quarter of a century, every club that has achieved sustained success has done so at the cost of financial meltdown a little further down the line. [...] Only Bradford have so far broken free of the syndrome of success today, misery tomorrow.

This pattern keeps repeating, and it could be that the mark of a well-run club is not the achievement of - at the time - seemingly perpetual success, but managing the inevitable decline without going bust.
