I'd say it was as much to do with the top fighters seemingly unwilling to fight each other than it is politics. Kovalev-Stevenson is a prime example of a fight that should be easy to make, but the 2 camps are dragging their heels. It's infuriating from a fans POV. Especially when you consider a fight like Ray Leonard-Tommy Hearts was made in 5 minutes at the airport. Although Leonard did avoid Marvin Hagler for years so it's nothing new.

Murray shouldn't be in at all, he's failed miserably in singles so should only be in with team GB for a team award
Fury is a plastic champ in an era so devoid of talent it's ridiculous.
Ennis Hill will win but for me Peaty should get 2nd, absolute sensation in the pool, Whitlock as the first GB gold medal performance in the individual gymnastics at a world level is not to be sniffed at.
If Froome hadn't got knocked off his bike in the Vuelta and won it (as I reckon he would have done) and doing the double would have being in with a proper shout, as it is he won't.
Uness there are some shenanigans then Sinfield will be out of the running after the first round of shortlisting the short list.
Leeds would IMHO have won the team award were it not for the tennis lot...oh well

regardless of where he finishes in the final vote....he's in there representing RL and that should be celebrated and supported by the WHOLE RL family. He'll get my vote.
