HULL KINGSTON ROVERS is my religion, Craven Park is my church and Jordan Abdull is my God

RFL disciplinary strikes again : Tue Feb 17, 2009 7:01 pm
Chev Walker 1 match ban and £300 fine for striking in an incident that occured when he was the ball carrier.

Jamie Peacock throws 4-5 maybe 6 punches against Celtic in the opening game on TV and is given nothing

Go figure?

Disagree, by all means, with the panel's decision that Peacock's 'offence'[punching] merited no further punishment than the Sin Bin it got.(Although I personally didn't.)

Disagree, by all means, with the guilty decision on Walker[Striking - raised forearm carrying the ball] and/or the punishment imposed.(I imagine you're at an advantage over me here as I haven't seen the Walker incident.)

I can't, however, see that either incident has any relevance to or should have any influence on the other.

No good whining about it, we know some players are bullet proof and some are not and certainly some clubs are treat better than others, but you just have to get on with it, lets get Jake in there and hope he can do what he did at Headingley last year.

because striking with the forearm in the tackle has always been a worse offense than fighting in RL?

There are a range of striking offences: charges of striking with the elbow are graded C-F (C carries a 1-4 match ban; F an 8+ match ban); punching charges range from grades A-F.

Link to procedures, grading & sentencing guidelines:

http://www.therfl.co.uk/clientdocs/On%20Field%20Compliance%20%20Sentencing%20Guidelines%202009.doc

Sentencing guidelines/grades, page 6 onwards. Suspension range on page 8.

Wasn't Ben Westwood the ball carrier when he whacked a rovers player and got rightly banned a couple of years ago?

Best laugh was Justin Morgan, who stated on radio humberside that rovers were going to appeal. On what grounds? Because they didn't liek the outcome? Watch out for an extention to that ban

So why is Ryan Bailey given only a warning letter for the same offence?
