Speed of the ruck and the game in general... : Sat Mar 14, 2009 10:49 pm
I only saw a little NRL this weekend but noticed from half a game and a few ref decisions, along with the commentary team mentioning it also that the NRL are trying to speed up the game in general, especially penalising holding down and interference at the play the ball.
2 ref's also help speed up the game from what I have read on other posts,
does this make any sense since that now it seems the Superleague seem to want to go the other way in (taking off the Saints specs) the fact that it seems apparent that the officials are allowing more holding down and slowed down the play the ball in many games this year. I know Potter mentioned it and few other fans I've spoken to agreed they have noticed this slight change also......
Will they ever get both leagues operating under the same rules whether it be speed or other points, thus making it a level playing field internationally.
Do we want a slower superleague or is the speed of the game what makes it so exciting? Or does the fast game in England only benefit the teams like Saints / Leeds ?
Just wondered
