Two Games Down : Sun Feb 15, 2015 7:15 pm  

So that's round 2 of super league complete. Everyone has now had the opportunity to see the majority of teams play, be it in the flesh or on Sky.

What are people's first impressions? Who has impressed? Who has disappointed? What do you think of the overall quality? Have you seen anything to change your predictions or is it just too early to tell?

Warrington and Saints seem like being the teams to beat. Wigan have disappointed a touch but will be there or there abouts. Wakefield and Hull have probably raised a couple of eyebrows, can either maintain it or is it just typical of what we often see this early in the season. On the flip side, I expected Salford to lose both games, but the manner they were pulled apart by Saints has to be worrying. Hull KR look exciting with the ball but dreadful in defence, if they can't address that then their attack will be irrelevant. Finally Catalans, whilst not having an awful start, haven't performed anything like I expected them to. Carney will improve them, but he will have to improve them an awful lot if they are going to be genuine contenders.

While you can't knock a 100% win record, Warrington slightly disappointed me on Friday night.
They did just enough to get the win but they had enough possession and position to put the game well and truly to bed (Hull's defence was brilliant though, especially when scrambling back). However, there defence was very good and left very few gaps for Hull to exploit, with a kick been our only way to score.
I wasn't at all impressed with Sims. Only early days though so I expect to see him improve, but eve with our 2 young props on the pitch Sims wasn't even making a dent in our line. Bowden never took a backwards step.

I still think Warrington are going to top the league (Saints to win the final) but I was hoping to see more of their skills on Friday night. I'm sure it won't be long before they truly get up to speed though.

Very happy with Saints start, gives me a bit more confidence ahead of the WCC.
Pretty much agree with what youve said, surprised by Salford, i expected them to be better, Hull KR too. Hopefully Hull will have a good season as i really think a strong Hull side (whichever that maybe) is important to the league. Great start by Wakey, very impressive

Pretty much covered it there.not many surprises really,was never fooled by the fake frenchmans constant bigging up of Catalans and Hull KR but Salford being so bad was a bit of a shock.

The first two rounds has made me even more confident that the top four will be Saints,warrington,wigan and Leeds in whatever order.

Aso in terms of players, from Hull I'm massively impressed with Minichiello. Looks a brilliant signing.
In terms of other teams Joe Greenwood is the stand out for me so far.

2 games in and the players still don't understand the new interpretations. The coaches probably haven't got it yet and as for the fans............

Quick suggestion, don't do things that will get you penalised.

Two games down for fc and the most impressive thing for me about them, apart from defense is that we are giving less penalties away

2 games in and Leeds have the best attack in SL.

I agree, decent flowing game on Friday, not too many stoppages for penalties for the first hour or so, defensively looking solid, evident I guess in only conceding 7 points.
