HOW TO IMPROVE GATES [Home & Away] : Tue Feb 17, 2009 10:02 am
In my opnion it's about time all season tickets were for all home and away games.

This season I can see quite a lot of our fans not going to the away games for one reason [Credit Crunch] or another.

I feel all clubs this season need to encourage away fans to attend games I'm not saying they should give away free tickets but I do feel a buy one get one free promotion could help incease the turnouts.

bring back the cheeky girls for home games  . can we cope with the demand for the home games, the organisation with the turnstiles on saturday was a joke. regarding the away games then they should re introduce the travel club and give better notice to supporters like announcing it on the tannoy (in between the sponsers list) imo

I think definatley some sort of reduction on away ticket prices!!

something like a 30 - 40% discount for season ticket holders?

or

Maybe buy the ticket through the club and get free coach travel to and from the game?

Home:

Maybe,

With every game, you can bring a mate/partner for free!
50% off an extra ticket with your ST!
Family tickets: 2 paying adults, 2 kids free!

Away:

Maybe,

35%-50% off away tickets with your ST!
Free away travel!
2 away tickets for the price of 1!

Unless SRLFC would pay for the difference then you'd have to reciprocate the offer - would your club be keen on a big dent on their usual income against Leeds, Wire, Saints and Wigan because of reduced price tickets?

I definatley think so.

It may make a dent on money they take on the door but I would guess they would make more monies on programmes / beer ect, and get attendances up as well.

I don't think this should be restricted to salford either! I think this should be something that the rfl / super league should be looking into!

No, I'm sure they wouldn't be happy with it, but we desperatly need to be improving our attendances, we can't really cast a judgement off Saturday for reasons which we have blabbed on about for days, but we have always known we haven't got the largest support and we need to make some decisions in how we could improve it.
The problem with the offer we had on Saturday and offers we have had before was; To get a free ticket, you had no either have or know a season ticket holder. Also it wasn't advertised well, again it was only advertised on the official site, and through the post to ST holders, we need to be attracting new fans rather than people who we know will be there virtually everyweek.

But it'd have to be agreed between the clubs, and a lot of other SL sides franchise out the catering etc so it makes little difference making more money for that side of the operation. Didn't Hull publicy state a few years ago that they'd rather have a sub 7,000 crowd than 14,000 at half the price because of their deal with their stadium management company, for example?

A season ticket of this kind would need some kind of intervention and/or funding from the RFL. I’d say it’s a non-starter; however, the RFL aren’t shy in the breaking new ground department

If fans have the money, they’ll go. If fans can still afford it on the dole, they’ll go. Recently, I’ve been looking at attendance figures in various sports during a recession: the hit is negligible.

A bigger obstacle put in front of fans, in my opinion, is the amount of away games on a Friday night. Only five of our away games are on Sunday afternoons. It’s the rigmarole of getting to places on a Friday evening that takes a bit of the social aspect away, and unless the game is a must see, you’re bound to see a drop off in numbers.

Cheaper - too late now though. Improvement in the food and drink stalls.
