I have to disagree with your comment about Adamson not being big or strong enough for a second rower. If you compare him to Jon Wilkin at St Helens, he's a similar kind of size to Adamson and he's a full International?

Luke Adamson 6'1 - 15st - 5lbs
England Academy Info

Jon Wilkin 6'1 - 15st - 4lbs
Wikipedia

Personally I think Adamson brings a bit more pace and mobility to the pack.

Look at players like Billy McGinty, Trevor "The Axe" Gillmeister and at Salford, Arthur Bradshaw. Not big blockbusting second rowers, but pacey, strong and great tacklers. I think if Adamson can really polish up a hard, fair, and reliable tackling technique (like the aforementioned Axe) he can carve out a niche for himsef.

This season's gonna be all about giving these young lads game time against super league sides. They're not gonna destroy defences in their first game - if they did they would be at Bradford, Leeds or St's. They've got potential - now they need to get experience. We've got a long season ahead and they will all get their chance. I think we need to wait til mid season (hell, even next season) then decide if they can cut it at this level.

I think writing them off after 1 super league game is crazy - just as saying Myler is the next GB scrum half.

We've got 3 years - give them time.

Nothing wrong with Luke Adamson.

Steve Nash needs plenty of game time this season in order to prove himself.

Lee Jewit is more than good enough and I'm sure we will see him on the bench very soon.

Adam Sidlow is also knocking on the door.

Jordan Turner will be back in the first team when the times right.

Stefan Ratchford also will be in the frame very soon.

Also Paul White will have to fight for a first team spot when he's fit again.

The Salford City Reds more or less have everybody available at the minute but as we all know it's a long season and players will pick up the odd injury and this is when the squad rotation will come into effect.

In the meantime I think our head coach McRae is doing a great job of protecting the young players and I'm sure he will know when to change the current first team 17.

The other night Ray Cashmere looked to have finished with a calf strain, who knows the big fella may be rested this coming Sunday at Wakefield if so Lee Jewitt is waiting in the wings.

Thought Nash did Ok when he came and I've watched it again and still think he went OK, no complaints from me obviously hes not going to be able to match Stapo and the Rayman in physical strength, but IMO I thought Nashy went well.

As for Adamson I can't believe that your saying he's not good enough for SL he made twice as many yards as Rob Parker when he took the ball forward. I really really rate him and hes definatley worthy of his first team spot. Infact I'd go as far as saying he's our best second rower.

No he didnt, Adamson made 83 metres and Parker made 85 . However Adamson's defence was far superior making a total of 36 tackles compared to Parkers 27 and he made no errors whereas Parker made 2.

Ray Cashmere made 174 metres.

IMHO I think Nash gets a bit of undeserved flack on here. He is still young for a Prop and, agreed, a bit light but his effort and stats can not be doubted. As for Adamson? How anyone can doubt his SL credentials is beyond me? A class act that we will do well to keep hold of...
