Been told both the North and South stands is for the home supporters, think we'll all find out more on Tuesday at the kids game.

Originally the North was due to be home, but now it is South after it was decided that the North stand would be less favourable for the sun in the eyes. Personally (based on using a sun compass at the stadium on Thursday) I don't think either end will have any problem with the sun in peoples face, unless games are played on afternoons in December/January (if it's sunny on the 7th, Leigh fans will have a hard time). The problem is, whilst a decision was made to swap the home end, no decision was made to move the screen; so the screen will be in the South East corner and the home standing fans might not get a very good view of it.

Our view of the screen was terrible in the shed anyway so nothing new there



If I have my bearings right the home end faces back into salford while the away end faces warrington



So salford now have its very own south stand, let's hope in 20+ years its being compared to Leeds one but better...with no drums

Just had a mooch round and if the number of cars driving up and having a look is anything to go by then the club are onto a winner.





Anyone tell me why the glass on the lower left hand side of the main stand is all boarded over and for Gods sake would it not have been a good idea to have had the shop finished and kitted out with a little bit of gear to make use of the interest in the new facility, do hope it's not going to be run the same shambolic way the old place is/was.

Typical Salfordesque balls up, strode at the new stadium along with two other people only to be told there's no staff to sell me tickets, why sodding bother?

I rang the stadium yesterday to be told the ticket office was open selling tickets for the Leigh game,turned up at the stadium ticket office and surprise surprise...it was closed !!

Same here, just about had enough of trying to take positives from all this. I can hand on heart say one thing if I hadn't paid for my season ticket already I would walk away.

I get a little frustrated when this (un)christian country shuts down for a fortnight over every Christmas and New Year period.

I did notice by perusing the facebook information that the club won't be up and running until the 3rd January.

I'm sure things were just as annoying when the Willows opened in 1901 when they managed to attract a decent attendance despite the lack of working people driving the infernal combustion engines about.

Thing is though if your such a massive Salford fan wouldn't you have a season ticket by now? surely your bound to have shelled out your hard earned money or is it a case of you watch the first couple of games and then don't bother because there's no glory to follow.

After yesterday’s game, there is problems to be sorted out (apart from the team)



signs must be put up i.e. one for Irlam and one for Eccles and the M60.

all traffic using the main bridge is sent left for Irlam only result lots of people doing U-turns at the airport, and then making a traffic jam at the lights.

everyone exiting the car park using the works road must go to the lights.



The lights should be manually controlled to keep the traffic moving



For what’s going to be like with a big crowd.

We got a cab from Eccles and the traffic down Liverpoo Road was shocking and is only going to get much worse with bigger crowds, found it odd coming out of the ground that despite wanting the cab to go towards Eccles we had to turn left but I'm sure it'll get sorted.



Did hear one thing that made me shake my head in that the stadium people were trying to move black cabs off the grounds as they didn't have permission to pick up there, the lady who picked us up refused as a hackney carriage is liscenced to pick up anywhere!

is it marked up as a taxi rank in front of the west stand?

Yup we managed to get the last cab out of there and they drivers were going mad, they were told to make the effort to support the stadium only for the security moving them on telling them they had no right to be there and they believed there [imay[/i be a little *ahem* agreement with a private cab company being drawn up by the stadium people, which for me is bound to fail as the company I was told about isn't really that local and aren't going to send cabs down there just to pick us up and drop us somewhere for a £3 trip!



During the planning process I'm sure it was outlined that there HAD to be a Hackney carriage rank and the stadium.

Private Hire taxi firms will not be allowed to wait and pick people up from the stadium/rank by law. Only Black Cabs can pick up people who haven't actually phoned a taxi. You would have thought the council who are part owners in the stadium would know about this law because they regulate it.



Surely having a taxi rank with waiting black cabs at the facility (during busy times) will be a very convenient service for visitors leaving the place.



If there is a financial agreement with a private hire taxi firm as mentioned in an earlier post then I can see this story making the headlines in the local advertiser. (Considering a taxi rank was shown on the original stadium plans)

Wasn't the law preventing pickups anywhere dropped a few years ago to encourage competition?

I thought the hackney's waiting outside were a great idea, though I wouldn't be too keen on them keeping the meter running while trying to get off the car park!

No the lady cabbie was telling me that the club were moving the black cabs iff the stadium grounds as they didn't have permission to pick up there. If I understand the law it states that a black cab can pick up anywhere?

and so can a private hire vehicle. The only difference is that ph cars cannot wait in a Taxi rank nor use Taxi lanes etc, as they are not infact a 'taxi'. Also, ph vehicles cannot solicit for business on the street (but may be approached by a prospective client no matter of the location) It is then the ph drivers responsibility to book any consequential fare via his operator to ensure that insurance regs are met. (Although these rules appear to go completely out of the window in the vicinity of The Printworks at 2.30 am on Friday and Saturday night
