We also need a couple of big, aggressive, metre making props
Agreed we had one last year and this year needed to put two more with him not let him go and sign some NL1 players. Incidentally for those of you who don't follow the NRL Ray has been snapped up by the West Tigers via the Illawarra Clippers and he now plays with the likes of Robbie Farrah and Benji Marshall, it hasn't gone unnoticed that in conjunction with his arrival (3 games now) they have won all three and turned what was becoming an indifferent season around. ray has scored and according to the likes of Ray Warren looked the most interested player in the Tigers side.

Feka - Looked promising at the start of the season, but wouldn't offer him another deal.
Agreed
Smith - See above, wouldn't break the bank to keep him.
Don't see what all the fuss is about average at best
Wild -Works hard and a good solid pro, but we need more from a super league 13.
Agreed
Anderson - Will retire at the end of the season, thank god.
Amen
Boyle - Just stodge, not good enough for this level
NL1 Player
Nero - Been a good pro, but getting too old now. Starting to pick up a few injuries time for him to go.
Yep Godwin - Too injury prone, gives his all when on the field, but another one who needs to call it a day.
Cas need him back
James - Never ever rated him, god knows why we signed him?
I thought he had more to offer alas he hasn't
Sidlow - Got the size and a decent off load that's about it.
Shame but agreed
Williams - I'd go as far to say he's better Broughton. We need Danny signed up asap.
Yep
Gibson - Defence is poor, but a useful player to have and always pops up with a try. Worth another contract IMO
Nice to have in the squad
Gleeson - Had a couple of poor games, but I think he looks every bit as dangerous as Moon on his day, has great foot work and a good offload always seems to make space for his winger.
I like him still think he has more to offer
Adamson - Yet another stodge player, works hard, but makes very little yardage, rarely offloads, rarely breaks the line. As a squad player maybe I'd give him a contract.
Once promising now would look better in a Leigh shirt
Does anyone have an up-to-date list of our first team squad and when there contracts expire ?
oops found it !!

I can see some decent money becoming available if we are getting rid of Anderson and Pattern and also if rumours are True Feka. With Towers coming and the youngsters to cover for him there is no big money being spent on a full back and with Feka going maybe the money we are saving can go to getting in two decent hefty props to give us some go forward. I would as has been suggested by others put DJ into the lock position, play Sneyd at 6 and then we seem to have enough cover in the second row to not worry about buying in to replace Anderson as we have Neal, Wilde, Ashurst, Adamson, McPherson, Nero and maybe a coule of the 20's squad.

Why do we always want to play players out of position, DJ is a half back it's either there or nowhere. Let's face it I doubt Matty Smith will be with us next season so Sneyd can partner Holdsworth.

Sorry mate but they're average at best, Neal is a prop, he wants to play prop so leave him there. Wild is a loose forward (who for me is nearing the end of his career) Ashurst I like, a good solid second rower and Nero is really just a fill in at second row. And McPherson is build like a second rower but for some reason people fancy him as a prop, he's not big enough.

I'm not sure Smith will be moving on, he's not exaclt carried on the form he started the season with and I get the impression he might be the one that breaks the mould and shows commitment to the team who gave himn regular first team rugby and especially if Long is on the coaching staff next season.
Well you know me I rate Neal but don't think unless the weather is scortching he has the build for it and do see him as a big minutes second rower, also don't see McPherson as a front rower, suspected he might be before he arrived but I remain to be convinved and that we havn't boaught a crock as he does seem injury prone but good when he is on the pitch.
DJ definately has the size for a 13 though not sure on his defense, Wilde I see as very important as he does the hard work that doesn't get him noticed but I bet he is one of the most important players to the other players (reguardless of him being captain that is). Nero is valuable as he can take a bench spot and at a push cover the centres, or any of the back three forward positions, Adamson is performing more like his old self and is for me worthy of a new contract and surely a couple of the 20's have got what it takes to step up, so at most I'd say we need one 2nd rower and I'd go for another younger Ashurst type.
Have you heard the rumours about Paul Wellens receiving an offer from Salford. Saints are reluctant to offer him a new deal and Salford are rumoured to have made him an offer. How would you feel about that?

I'd be gutted, very much a backwards step if true, I'd rather spend that kind of money on a prop and trust one of the youngsters or see how Towers performs.
Good john wilky last looked out

deep and crisp and even
brightly played the lads that night

No Luke Patten, but solid enough I suppose. Would prefer someone younger with a bit more pace though.
