Does anyone know the date when the chosen contractors are announced?, think that is the next important date

On the whole our stadium is privately funded as part of a wider business development, with the local council giving a land donation of around $2,000,000 for both us and Cas.
Hope all is well and those no good Tories don't hinder your plans!

Any chance of an answer/confirmation?

How much was Salford Council giving towards the costs? With the Government announcing big cuts to the amounts they give to local councils, the result could be a scuppering of plans of yourselves, Wakey and Cas.

I really do not have a problem with salford or your new ground. I was just asking a simple question to find out how long the S of S took or is taking to give the official green light.

I will assume that you do not have the official go ahead yet after 2 months.

As far as I've been informed everything is rubber stamped, although I don't know if or where this decision can be viewed. Obviously, back when we went through the first lot of planning, the Council Committee approved it and then needed clearance from above, which resulted in it being called in for public inquiry and then the decision of the inquiry being published (as a fairly weighty document). Now what I don't know is whether there is an official announcement published when something is not called in, or whether they just make an announcement if something is called in.

Anyhow - drove over Barton Bridge in rush hour last night and had a good chance to see further. Still plenty of work going on past 5pm, and a quite a transformation on the site since the pics I posted 11 days ago. Almost all the site is now leveled and smoothed over, including profiling of the watercourse valley through the site.

The last 'building due to start in......' was November wasn't it? There have been numerous of these announcements in the last few years, maybe this time they will start on time? Or maybe the cuts to council budgets might change a few things especially as the council had earmarked 20 million for it. Will they still be able to justify that outlay to the residents of Salford?

Firstly Salford council aren't putting the full amount in , it's a joint venture between Peel holdings aswell as the Council. Around 10 million each I beleive. Reagrding whether the cuts will affect the project I believe the funds have already been pledged and are in place for the stadium. Around 4 million pounds has already been spent of NWDA money for the ground work.

Spot on fella, many of you know where I work and some of my colleagues have been very close to all this over a very long time.

This is a Joint Venture Company formed between Salford City Council and Peel Holdings. The Joint Venture Company is the applicant for the application and the City Council have provided the Joint Venture Company with a loan to pay for the construction work and new infrastructure. The Joint Venture Company would own and manage the community stadium, with the Salford City Reds having a licence to use it.

The Council aren't giving money they are lending it to the JVC, money that has already been sourced and ring fenced. The Council will reap the rewards when the Retail development is opened via rents.

I've just had it confirmed that these spending cuts will have no impact on the stadium and there is absolutely no call in from the Secretary of State and all systems are go!

I'm also lead to believe that this money isn't coming directly out of Salford residents pockets the Council are borrowing it to lend to the JVC as in these times a private company would struggle to get that kind of loan direct from banks. It will be paid back over time and the council may even make out if it in the long term.

Salford City Council are determined that this Stadium happens, they have given it the fullest of support and see it as another jewel in the City’s crown, following the Lowry Centre, Lowry Hotel, BBC/Media City etc.

Sorry for the rant but there are far too many ill informed people taking guesses, pot shots and assumptions who are making comments.

He was shot in both arms , and both legs. He later died because of his injuries. Tommy 25th March 2007.

Salford City Reds are the National League Champions again and nobody will ever win a Grand Final more dramatically than this. Division One champions, Grand Final winners, winners of the Northern Rail Cup; everything their hearts desired. Down and out? Not a bit of it, they are never out. Memories are made of this forever and a day, Salford fans will ask "where did you watch the 2008 Grand Final? Where did you see John Wilshere save the day with the last kick of the ball?"
