Grapple Tackle. : Tue Mar 17, 2009 10:50 am
Nothing to do with Warrington but reading Terry Matterson's comments about the Huddersfield players using this technique in the League Express concerns me a little.

He basically accused the Huddersfield players of moving there arms towards the neck of the opponent once contact has been made on the chest, in order to slow down the ptb, obviously Nathan Brown denies the claim that his team use or he coach's such technique.
Reading further into the article it stats that Brown was accused of the same thing whilst coaching in Australia and excluding Matterson, 2 other Super League coach's have been to Cummings this season to complain about the technique being used by the Huddersfield players.

We see this technique being used more and more often in our game by all clubs but to be coaching players to perform this technique should eradicated and met with a hefty disciplinary IMO, or is Mr Cummings saying all of the above is just a coincidence :?:

Anybody have any opinion on this. :?:

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

Union is played by people who close airports after a bit of snow, League is played by people who would go and have a snowball fight with a 747

No, the first two were almost certainly genuine complaints made to Cummings, Matterson publicly moaned about it in a post-match interview, the match they just happened to have lost.

just to expand grapple tackles and not standing square are two of the things that wind me up when i'm watching sky games which results in me getting told off by the wife for shouting at the tv.

There was a lack of any shouting in the cas giants game from me, i can't say i noticed any.

What i have noticed in the last 2 giants games on sky, is that luke robinson is still a bit crap and kevin brown is playing surprising well, IMO/
