Great Opening Week for Super League XXIX : Mon Feb 19, 2024 2:58 pm

Great Opening Week for Super League XXIX
Mark Twain once said, “The reports of my death appear to be much exaggerated”, and while the critics and doom mongers again heralded the demise of our great game in 2024 it appears from the opening week of Super League that their fears have so far been somewhat misplaced.

Without doubt the Super League XXIX was always going to be a 'little different' with SKY committing to cover all of the matches with some games being broadcast simultaneously, while Super League had its own new streaming service and some games would be shown live to a national audience free to air on the BBC.

False economy though, sticking a hull derby on will always bump it up.

Did they deliberately choose a Mark Twain quote as he is also responsible for lies, damned lies and statistics...?

Exactly. Trying to show the game as "thriving" when it is anything but.

Well, thats the 2nd week, I have turned off at half time watching games, as it appears that the wish that ‘the game should be more like Netball’ is coming to fruition. Fully support rules that benefit players safety, and wonder, juts how many Players were involved in creating thie new ‘non contact’ sport.
Bloody hell, if brown noser Carny stands in front of the screen shaking his head, then the game truly is………..finished, and Wilkins is right…its turning fans away.
Wait till mid-season to really get a grip of whats happening.
RIP RL

Carney didn't know what to say at half time last night, because, for once, Wilkin was spot on and fully justified in his rant. But it damages Sky's laughable claims week on week that this is the greatest sport ever. It used to be, but it's not going to last long with all this tinkering and meddling with rules and regulations.
