Some home truths....this may hurt : Sat Oct 08, 2016 9:16 pm
Firstly, well done Wigan (spits). The best side won.

Our "pack" are too lightweight. Bar Hill, did we gain ANY metres through leg drive. Wigan MULLERED us, in this department. We're powderpuff, in comparison.

Some dumb decisions. Iirc, didn't Atkins have his winger unmarked, when he went "over". Glory boy.

We've lost 4 of our last 9 games. Not good.

.......and, most controversially, MY GOD, WE'RE DULL.

Smith has coached EVERY BIT of attractive rugby, OUT of this side. From 2010 to 2013, we've played some of the most exhilarating RL, I've ever seen. Since then, he's wrung all creativity out us, to the point that I'm bored to tears.
All we had in the first half, was endless scoots from dummy half. TEDIUM.
The second half (bar a couple of tackles) was like watching a fish finger defrost.

Yes, Smith has been our best coach since Murphy left, by a country mile, but if he resigned tonight, I wouldn't bat an eyelid. As someone said as I was leaving, we play joyless rugby. I couldn't agree more.
I go to the match to be entertained. This is the rl equivalent of 80's Italian football, dull, but (more often than not) effective.

All season I've said we need some quality props and was told about how Sims does all the little things well and gets a quick play the ball. Someone even derided me for saying Farrell was far superior to Hughes...

Bar Hill, Clarke, Currie and very occasionally Westerman the pack lacks quality and go forward.

Whilst we are at it can anyone else see that Ryhs Evans offers NOTHING in attack and cannot make opportunities for his winger.

To contradict that AA advert from the 80/90's.......I know a man who can't.

Evans is probably the worst attacking player I have ever seen be a regular SL centre.

He is just so clueless in attack it is painful to watch. In his head it is an achievement to catch the ball and be tackled. I have never seen him beat a defender with footwork, hit a good line or make a decent pass.

Cooper and Crosby should make a big difference to our pack, George king runs it in like a fairy.

If Wigan had swapped places with Hull kr and gone down, which players would you take from that 17 tonight. ....
I'd have gelling for evans and farrell for jack hughes. And nuisalla for any prop except hill.

But that's it.

Quite shocking really. ...

.. and there goes the Monkey Man factor, biscuit.
He gets his players to crawl over broken glass for him. To me, Smith just says "give it a go, lads. If we're losing, I'll get Stuart Pearce to growl at you.

Couldn't agree more with your player analysis, too.
I'd swap Evans for anything. Tackles well, but that's it. Reminds me of a modern day Carl Gibson (bang average GB centre, 20 odd years ago). Hughes, as good as he is for us, is just the reincarnation of Gary Sanderson. Won't let you down, but don't expect owt else. And you're right. We only have one (proper) prop, at the club.
