OK but Tony Barrow had a legendary pack with Boyd, Tamati, Roberts, Mike Gregory and co, plus Andy Gregory at scrum half and Phil Blake and Brian Johnson in the backs.

How many players from our current side would get into that Premiership winning side of 1986?

I don't know, you have gone and spoilt it now.

I do know Phil Blake didnt play in the final and Johnson started on the bench.

I was trying to post something optimistic rather than realistic :-)

Phil Blake had gone back to Souths about 3 months earlier.

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

“Yeah we were rubbish against Wigan. We won’t qualify for the play offs and I can’t see us improving until Powelly sacks at least half of my colleagues and brings in some quality, especially props, we need a lot of very big props”.
Can’t see that going down well with his team mates somehow. Which is why we get anodyne interviews like these, still I admire his optimism.

I really like Danny Walker. Seems a lively lad with that bit of spark we need.
Making comments to the press or online is bound to bring criticism it's not easy to get it right.
He's brave or misguided to get involved. I think it's easier not to say too much.

When listening to players & coaches I reckon it is best not to expect anything that is earth shattering.
It's difficult to be original ... difficult when you lose and dead easy when your winning.

Doubt if Clark will still be at Wire when his current high salary contract expires, unless he is prepared to accept a much lower wage here.

Walker will be at Wire for a long time hopefully

Or

"We underperformed against Wigan, in fact we have not played to our potential all season and are not at the required standard at the moment. However, we have belief in ourselves and Powelly and we are going to work tirelessly in our defensive systems. If we get our defence to the level it was in 2021 there is no reason why we cannot have a real go in the playoffs. Youse got the best to come".

I like his attitude on and off the pitch.

Still just 22. He could develop into a very strong leader for the club. Added bonus of him being a Warringtonian.

Bit underwhelmed when we signed him, but happy to be proved wrong.

Definite edge about his game with a fervent desire to win games.

I think Walker is developing into a great player. He kicks the ball well for field position too at times, which if he could continue to develop would be a really helpful tool.

Nostalgia of Monaghan maybe influencing this, but I think back to 2011/2012 when we could do it on tackle 3 or 4 and pin teams down and really get on top of the field position. More often than not since then we’ve seen kicks caught on the full and then defending elusive backs at full flight making easy yards
