When I saw it at the cinema, I thought it was one of the best two or three new films I'd seen in the past decade or so. I re-watched it earlier this week, and whilst it did not knock me off my feet as much, it is still a very, very good film.
Really? What did you like about it?
I thought it almost childlike, undemanding and cloying. I also think the narrative structure is "gimmicky" which prevents the story from developing pace until the last half hour. There are much better real Bollywood rags to riches stories. The depiction of India has also been panned by critics. Cinematography was very good though but 8 Academy awards is way over the top in my view.
