im all for giving him a season or 2... as most of this isnt his doing.... BUT, if he cant get this lot up for a scrap, then his position is 100% at risk.
I think even Wane would struggle to get this lot up for a scrap.
There's nothing there, no controlled aggression. No bullying forwards. If someone were to grip widdop, who's going to run in? You don't have to throw a punch or do anything reckless but you've got to stand there, next to your teammate and show you won't stand for it.
Currently i think Hughes would whisper "stop being nasty" and the rest of the boys would just get a water.
Powell gets this season and he's being honest in his press releases so he's trying to explain to the fans that he gets it. If we're in this predicament in 12 months it's a different story
Surely Powell will be the next SL coach to go. You can’t accept this can you? look worse than under Price. The players he brought with him from Cas were not even the best at Cas. Be ruthless and instigate change. You’ve hardly got any injuries or suspensions either.
What an absolute nonsense. I was expecting plenty of knee-jerk s*** on here tonight, but this fella from Leeds has won 'd!ck of the day' for me.
Anyone wanting Powell out at this point is beyond help. This is 100% down to one thing and that's the players - This is a squad that has mastered the art of underachievement and bottling it. Simply changing coaches isn't going to stop that - this job is a long one of weeding out those who don't want to give their all and replacing them with a group of players who want to buy into Powell's ideas.
Personally, I'm all for giving Powell at least 2 years to sort this. The only change I'd be considering is replacing that useless tool, Fitzpatrick, with a proper director of RL, who considers the rugby as the 100% priority and not a part of some match day experience for his 'customers'.
As I've said before, this is no quick fix, it's a top to bottom renovation and bringing Powell in was just a small part of what is needed.

i agree.... its a broken team... no one can get a tune out of these charlatans this season.... it needs a 2/3 year rebuild.
We’ve completely no chance of beating Huddersfield
On recent showing, you’re right. But, there’s a team in here somewhere. These players, Widdop, Williams, Cooper, Clark, Currie, King, Charnley… they can all be excellent players. And the worst thing is, you would associate all of them with attacking rugby, Cooper included with an offload game. Yet, we can’t score!
Even with Cullen, you might not win, but you’d score 30 points most weeks.
In all seriousness I get your point, a lot of our players have been much better than these performances in the past. There must be some resistance to the new ideas, anyone who won't adapt needs to go and play for the reserves and either ask to leave or beg to be given a second chance. I'm fed up of players not showing up for each other. There won't be a team spirit at the club until the bad eggs are removed from where they can have an influence.
"I feel like I’m butting heads with some of them about the way we want to play." Sorry but that's alarming for me. 5 month in and we're butting heads about how they're going to play?

Why's it alarming?.. doesn't it just show the issue with the side?
We have a number of players who seemingly don't want to take on instruction and so, it's not complicated, Powell needs to weed them out and get shut of them.
If this side had previously been successful, then they might have a leg to stand on in opposing Powell's ideas, but they weren't. They are serial underachievers who have lost any right to try and dictate to a coach.
If I was Powell, I would sit them down tomorrow morning and ask them straight out who wants to be there and who doesn't, and for those that do, I'd tell them that it's the coach's way and no other.

Regrettably, DSM, we won't. With regards to your second paragraph, the only player I can recall us offering an "open door" to leave, was Gleason. The rest are too happy picking up big salaries for minimal effort, for far too long . I don't see it changing, any time soon.
