Apparently the guy or people who have been bank rolling Celtic Crusaders threatened to pull the plug on the financing if Celtic didn`t get a franchise this time round, the RFL have obviously buckled to the pressure and went ahead with a sort of now or never thing with South Wales.

It would be interesting to see the proof of that - clearly you wouldn't come on here and post something that was a rumour - and must have concrete evidence. if you are right, then the RFL is wrong. I look forward to seeing your evidence.

[quote="Paul Youane"]You obviously know Melbourne well and therefore prior to the Storm what percentage of the population living there would you say had an interest in the game?[quote]

Quite high, the Kiwi population in Victoria will always be the heart and soul of the fan base.

However, whilst Im not sure of my feelings on the Celtic inclusion what baffles me is the move of Millenium Weekend away from somewhere they are trying to grow the sport at pace? Its that decision that baffles me. Surely it would have been best suited to decide the franchise clubs before doing this, if they didnt already have the teams pencilled in?

Was intrested to hear what the Quins co-owner said about having a midlands team. As I grew up in the midlands i know the game is getting bigger there but especially Nottingham where I did grow up they have a team that seem to do well every year in the low low leagues and they also have an international player  Cant remember who! Will try and see!

His comment was to bridge London and the North so a midlands team would be ideal!

You'll be a bit young to remember Mansfield Marksmen then...

Er..Leigh?

from RFL Site
Despite previous relegations from Super League the club has a long history of financial stability. The club’s commercial and marketing plans appear well developed and will allow them to make use of a new stadium and access to the Salford and Manchester conurbations.

So would suggest not

Agreed. However at the end of the day its not all about stadia.

WHAT WAS THE LAST ATTENDANCE AT THE HJ FOR A SL GAME BETWEEN WIDNES COMPARED TO QUINNS? in the same season ?

We will see how long Leigh stay in business now that they have failed ,I would guess it was a massive gamble building that stadium and seeing as the football team were relegated as well it doesn't look good for Leigh, but I hope I am wrong

So you are trying to convince me that Salford would have survived if they had failed in their application ? I doubt it! the new stadium debts would have crippled them .

I can see the advert attempting to introduce SL to them now -

2 young lads holding the skipping rope for some young girl. Then you just see the back of a bald head approach them. Turns out to be Stevo with a Steeden Rugby L ball in his hand. The kids drop the rope, snatch the ball and run off onto the field and the girl falls over.

The end.

Now maybe the time to back your oft-stated opinion with a few cold hard facts Padders - perhaps reading the RFL Judgement will help you provide this evidence?

I`m fairly certain it was Eddie who mentioned it on the last edition of boots n all, he was saying that you would think its now or never for south Wales as the backer of the Crusaders has threatened to pull the plug on the financing if they don`t get a franchise this time round.
