Re: Smith Out : Tue May 30, 2017 12:49 pm
The comparison with Wenger is overwhelming. Smith seems to run the club and is beyond question. I'm staggered by the blasé attitude by some people on here to the fact we're about to fall out of the highest level of RL for the first time in the club's history. As for the "well who do we replace them with? - I don't know is the honest answer but that's what your have senior management for - any decent business has succession planning. And Agar isn't that before anyone pipes up. But it couldn't get any worse could it? Seriously - we're heading out of top flight rugby league - oh no just think where we'd be without Tony.
It's time to wake up - we're not the same club that left Wilderspool - we're a well resourced top club which averages over 10k per home game. We shouldn't be accepting this mediocrity and poor performance. We haven't won a major trophy in 5 years. With the amount of money available to him - we should have won the treble last year.
Once Sandow went, which was basically the moment he left the pitch at Wigan, we didn't really play that well or have any coherence in attack. What we're seeing this year is a continuation of that (we were dire in the GF) in a league where the other teams have improved.
It's a shame this is happening as it's starting to sour the great times and memories he's delivered - certainly the best coach of my lifetime and the rugby we played in 2011/12 was the best I've ever seen. But it's over Tony - he's gone stale, the whole set up is complacent and without leadership. Same as off the field - where we've gone from having a top sports administrator in charge to Karl Fitzpatrick who has zero business experience. There's something amiss and far more to RD's departure than met the eye I thought.
