If so, why are there numerous so called great players who do well over there and come over here and end up either pap or average?
Because those you allude to, and unfortunately they seem to play for the Wire, are mainly here to make themselves a comfortable future...
I am not saying Saints and Leeds aren't GOOD sides, its just annoying when the idiot brothers on Sky build up both teams as World-class, when in reality they are nothing of the sort.
Look at the recent World Club Challenge...finally the Aussies take it seriously, and not as a holiday, and what happens??...
You want a fair World Club Challenge?....Play it in June or July, alternating between Britain and Australia, and I promise you, that trophy wouldn't be seen on these shores again.
I would imagine it is more to do with the sum of it's parts.
might be a bit of that but I also think that we over-rate the NRL players as well.
Matt King - Enough said.
Wasnt Monoghan(sp) in the dream team over there before coming here?
Rauhihi - Been better this last season and a bit but not the so called world class prop from the NRL by any stretch.
Chris Flannery - Featured in the so called toughest contest in the SOO and yet (bar last night) has been average at best and IMHO is no better than Paul Clough.
Wasnt Ben Harris highly rated in the NRL and yet a pile of toss here?
We're the first ones to starve, we're the first ones to die The first ones in line for that pie-in-the-sky And we're always the last when the cream is shared out For the worker is working when the fat cat's about
I agree with the Monkey and the Pirate here.
Entertainment value is all well and good, but our bestest westest super dooper stars in this country fall a good way short of 'top class'.

Some of them are

If you threw them in the NRL where do you think they'd finish in the regular table. I think either Saints or Leeds would be as good as 5th or 6th which is pretty bloody good.

Tony Carroll anyone?
It's a bit like a gourmet chef getting a job working the kitchens in Maccies, though, to be fair.
