Whats a shame is that long serving players have often disappeared with a bit of a damp squib send off.
Remember Mark Forster's last season he had a broken arm and missed a lot of the year then we just heard at the end of the year he was being released and they organised a testimonial on Valentines Day when a lot of people would have had other arrangements.
Lee Penny also and had a send off in front of a small crowd against I think Wigan reserves(?) at Wilderspool after Wilderspool had officially closed.
Paul Cullen if I remember rightly just announced injury had forced him to retire and he joined the coaching staff. Same story with Lee Briers.
Mike Gregory was injured a lot at the end of his time with us and then got moved on to Salford.
I know a lot of the time circumstances aren't ideal and its not the clubs fault but I think it's a shame when we don't get a chance to give these players a proper send off and give them a bit of ceremony. I would hate to think Paul Wood just leaves and thats it.
