One of those bob sleigh (runs) ones is highly recommended.

It’s no surprise to see what is happening at Warrington, Powell has form. You only need to ask the Leeds supporters he fell out with plenty of their players. Why would anyone in their right mind let Cooper leave and replace him with someone who looks anything but fit? By the way, it looks like Cooper’s take on matters doesn’t fit with the narrative being espoused on forums such as this. Powell’s grand plan looks like he wants a pack full of old journeymen with a bunch of young backs playing behind them. Personally, I don’t think he has got the balance right.

Could you expand on “Cooper’s take” please. I’ve not seen anything

"It's not my fault, I'm the injured party and I've always loved Wigan" probably covers it.

Wes playing cricket this afternoon with a lad who has recently joined the club and is a Wigan season ticket holder. Was interesting hearing an outsider say in his view Powell was a good coach and that’s not changed, also that given we have been “almost” there we was bound to need a couple of seasons to rip it up and rebuild.

He felt last night was down to size of the pack and that Wigan had a lot more attacking power on the bench than we did.

He was kind enough not to gloat

Powell has only been a good coach on a narrow field. Continuity is key not ripping up a side. On paper Wire have a far better side than the one that is performing on the pitch which, raises the question why is that so? As for the size of the relative packs, I don’t think he is correct.

Re: Powell OUT : Sun Aug 07, 2022 6:45 am
Confused as to what Powell wants us to attribute the blame to.

It’s not a lack of effort (he said this), so that in itself concedes that either the players aren’t good enough or that they aren’t prepared correctly.

This changes the narrative from the bad apples/not working hard enough that has been used to criticise players on here.

I thought it was us, the fans? He's started offering us out now if we dare challenge. Sad when the coach has more aggression than the pillowcases in 2nd row

And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

Genuinely intrigued by the having a far better side on paper comment - what's the thinking behind this?

As far I see it, we are distinctly average and have very few genuinely quality players (Though admittedly, that's something that could be said of the league in general).

For a start, in the most important area, the front row, we are pretty poor in comparison with other clubs. Mulhearn is probably the best of the lot and he's average at best. So, with that mind, that puts us on the backfoot straight away.

Our hooker is now, by most people's opinion, well past his best and his understudy is an enthusiastic, but pretty underwhelming sort.

The back rowers, Currie & Holmes, are both showing nowhere near the form that has previously been seen, and with Currie especially, this has been ongoing for around 2 or 3 seasons.

As for the backs, we have 3 youngsters, who while having showed promise, are still a mile away from being players you want to be relying on on a weekly basis. Ratchford is pretty similar to Daryl Clark, well best his best and if we are being honest our only genuine quality is Williams, and he is having to perform with all the averageness I've just described around him.

I'm certainly open to being corrected here, but for me, the idea this side is underachieving to what we have on paper is a completely misguided one - We have a bottom half squad and that's where we rightfully sit.
