Went in The Turf at first but it was really busy so went straight out.

We found a bar across the road from the ground in Maesgwyn Hall that people wouldn't really have known was there, we only stumbled on it by asking was a bar in there. Got served straight away as only a few locals were in at first, nice leather seats, glass tables.

Phew - I'm glad it's not just me that feels thoroughly embarassed by some of our fellow Warringtonians' antics at away matches.

I seriously think it's time to ban the drums - they just make me cringe and add nothing to the atmosphere. We used to manage just fine before them and what little novelty factor they used to have has long since gone.

Sadly I seem to be in a shrinking minority of people who go to rugby matches with the top priority being - to watch rugby! Pointless chanting, "amusing" banter against the opposition fans (or against your own if they are in another stand), mindless slagging off the ref and our players (Westwood need sacking apparently according to one expert behind me yesterday) and other general nonsense seems more important now to many.

Does anyone have a league table of travelling support, it would be great if the RFL devised a scheme whereby the team that takes the most fans to away games gets special discount off a major game (Wembley, International etc) for their fans.

Maybe they could do it for a round of fixtures (not derbies), just a thought.

I think Warringtons away supporting is collated and noted which is why Catalan dragons have moved their home game to the bigger Aime Giral Stadium.and also why last year they decided to take the visit of Warrington to the olympic stadium in Barcelona....

or they could have just guessed Hull kr have a rough quarter of a million fans and booked the camp nou for the visit of the robins instead..... it would have been bustin at the seams...

Re: Turnout today : Mon Jul 05, 2010 12:38 pm
:)
For once I got a good look at the new self proclaimed 'barmy army' today. A dozen or so excitable youths and a smug 'drummer??' who's self-importance was laughable.
They did get some songs going and generally people joined in but only every so often and certainly not with everything ("you're wigan in disguise".... "who are ya"...etc aimed at our fans in the stand behind the sticks, songs with repetitive swearing or rediculous 1 man and his dog)
This 'group' seem more than happy to just sing along with the drummer boy to anything, anytime regardless of appropriateness, anyone else joining in or relevance.
They don't represent me or my kids which is why I moved well out of the way after 20 minutes and I think I now understand why many others have moved in the South stand and why Geordie packed in !
Rant over

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
:) I am sorry you have this opinion. I am the 'smug' drummer whos self importance is laughable. I and everyone else I was with had a realy good day yesterday and I think most warrington fans were made to feel very welcome and had some good banter with the crusaders fans. I am upset to here your opinion on me and other warrington fans around were we were stood on the side stand. The banter with the other warrington fans behind the sticks I actually thourght was quite funny and was definitely done in good spirt, you obviously dont have the same sense of humor. As usual tried my best to try and get a good atmosphere going and to get behind the team and as for chanting 'anything, anytime regardless of appropriateness' i disagree apart from the one man and his dog song wich you're right is a bit silly, all songs were relervant and were sang at times depending on what was going on on the pitch. I just think you have got this all wrong and its a shame you feel like this. I didnt get in to the ground untill it had just kicked off so didn't hear the anthem and i agree it sounds some warrington fans were disrespectful, but dont think it was done because they are horrible people just imature and THEY have an issue and find it hard to understand on what is appropriate. I myself has moved in the south stand due to idiots that were standing around me and think you are out of order to try and express an opinion that Geordie has stopped drumming because of me or my mates. I may be wrong but it sounds like you dont stand in the south stand.

el red - you are wrong.

Wire & Wigan have the best away followings, probably followed by Hull FC. The Hull KR novelty worn off last season.

Speaking of Leeds away following, it was pretty poor last week.

Mind you that was probably because England was on

It has been pretty poor all season according to a Leeds fan of mine who attends every game.
