I’ve already thrown Shaun Wane’s name in another thread, yes I know some would want me nailed to a cross for saying that name but at end of the day he knows how to win and right now I don’t care how we do it. We need to win the Grand Final, I’d happily have us lose at first hurdle in CC to help achieve it.

The sad thing is I think that if we’d started the season how we ended it, Price WOULD still be coach.

Warrington have a mentality and culture of mediocrity, Wane is the man to blast that out of the water.

Warrington could’ve made a big statement to the players, fans and opposition by announcing Price’s leaving at 9am on Friday morning.

To play that style you need a big pool of tough, uncompromising forwards which means you maintain that overwhelming grind over 80 mins and regardless of substitutions.

Ever since I can remember the Kangaroos have had that luxury. in 2019 Warrigton don't - we have Hill & Cooper and when they depart the intensity drops. You can't play a tough, high intensity, unyielding game without the players 1-17 to deliver it.

But you need to play that way to win the Grand Final. You’ve proved you can play that way in the Cup Final.
Personally I think it’s about being able to do both.
Leeds in their prime had the ability to play expansive rugby with offloads etc during the season then adapt to the grind come playoff time.

You could visibly see the change in style come September. Sinfield and McGuire would suddenly sharpen up and there’d be no or few low percentage plays going on. No shortcuts taken by trying to go wide too early. The grind was demanded and provided.

I think you’ve got most of the ingredients, I think you’re missing another top winger to go with Charnley, another solid NRL no-frills prop and some leaders.

In the game v Cas there appeared to be little leadership or inspiration.

I don't think you watch too much Wire judging part or the penultimate paragraph.

Recall that Price signed for two years, which would be up now, but didn’t he sign a year extension for next year

This, except we don't need a winger. We have 2 quality wingers and a good reserve in mamo.

Leeds have been quoted as an example of how the "aussie" style grind/pressure/no frills approach can win playoffs and grand finals.

But the Leeds squad of 2015, for example, had the likes of Peacock, Cuthbertson, Garbutt, JJB, Leuluai & Singleton in it. All big units capable.of big minutes and with five or six of those rotating off rhe bench and Sinfield orchestrating relentless pressure through accurate kicks they were equipped to that kind of game .............. WE ARE NOT.

Unless we see real improvements from the start of next season there's no way Price can stay for 2 years.
Barring the CC and semi, what we've seen in the 2nd half of the season has been unacceptable.
And as I said on another thread, even though we got results in the first half, we scrapped through in many of those matches. It was hardly convincing- with a few notable exceptions.

I wonder if the club are equally unambitious?
