We had a similar performance in terms of discipline when we lost a winnable game at Sheffield earlier in the season. We got caught up in a battle with the ref and let our frustration put us off our game. Even when the man in the middle is wrong, he’s right because you’re never going to get him to reverse his decision. Getting on his case isn’t going to help either as he’s never going to give you a 50/50 decision if you’re making his life a misery.

Pownall’s got form for this kind of thing. I saw him get a stupid yellow card at Fax which went a long way to costing you the game that day.

And that's precisely the simple lesson, that I referred to, that we have to learn! Incidentally, Pownall's 'yellow' at 'Fax, became a red after he sarcastically applauded the ref. The yellow was for throwing punches, for which he was found not guilty. Hence the stupid response to the ref that day!

Bullseye, I think Pownall received a 'Red Card' at Fax not a yellow however, he did contribute massively that day to our defeat by being responsible for eighteen of Fax's points :( I've never been a fan of Pownalls and probably never will however at Fax we were unlucky enough to have Gareth Hewer as referee who was absolutely appalling! I'm all for showing respect for officials but I can understand his frustration when the referee's keep calling the wrong decisions! He was the innocent party at Fax until his dissent got him a Red and, video footage from Odsal on Sunday would appear to suggest he might have been a victim of another bad call from the officials there too ?

I’d forgotten it was dissent that got himself sent off. Daft really. As I said earlier there’s no point in giving the ref a gobful, even if he’s wrong.

We had Hewer last week at Widnes and it resulted in us having a perfectly good winning try chalked off, not to mention one of theres was offside.

Having said all that these things do tend to even out. We got a terrible decision go our way at home to Fev and we got the win.

I know that individual decisions may cost a team the result but, something wound our guys up, and we had a very poor second half. The tj certainly appears to have got the one wrong with Pownall, but it was Pownall's reaction that cost us, big time. Sport is all about 'what might have beens' and the fact is that, over 80 minutes, the better team clearly won. Your guys kept their heads, when the ref was penalising you, and ours didn't. Looking forward to playing you again - this has been a fixture we have been sorely missing, the past few seasons.
