Very happy with this appointment as well.
He needs to be given the autonomy that Derek refers to though for sure.
Where have you read/heard he was offered other options within the club ?

I'm just reading between the lines.

https://www.leighjournal.co.uk/news/19610967.leigh-centurions-appoint-chris-chester-head-rugby/?ref=rss&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

"Having had lengthy discussions with Chris about various aspects I am fully confident that I can give him full autonomy to make the right decisions over the whole rugby department from coaches and backroom staff to the recruitment of players and to deal with all matters rugby related.

Also..

"which is why he has taken this position outside of the coaching opportunities he has been offered.

The latter quote of course can be interpreted in a couple of ways.

Its not unknown that the original plan was to have a NRL coach in place who could mentor Kurt Haggerty. Of which fell through.

The club is then linked with another NRL coach albeit an assistant.

After listening to his recent podcast I would say he's happy to retire to the Gold coast.

https://www.2gb.com/podcast/john-cartwright-preparation-has-been-perfect/

So you would say the plan was to have a new head coach. Not a head of Rugby. This of course still leaves the door open for a head coach of which those decisions have now been placed in the hands of Chris Chester.

Haggerty may not be an option as head coach now. Possibly another role who knows. CC not taking the head coach role has completely changed the plan of action.

I feel if we had supported Jukes with a suitable mentor in 17 then we would still be in SL

To be fair I doubt the likes of Cunningham would have been given such free reins as has now been bestowed upon Chester.

We did, Cunningham was brought in, was it June/July 17 and that didn't work, I can see you said " A suitable mentor" but in this appointment of Mr Chester it seems like an echo of what Mr Beaumont was saying about Cunningham's joining the club, I hope that is the only resemblance Mr Chester will have with Cunningham.

October was when we needed to support Jukes with a mentor - we won promotion with Cooke and Purtill assisting then Cooke left, leaving a huge hole for an inexperienced coach. An owd NRL coach for a season and we would have stopped up imo - KC after getting sacked at Saints was not a good move

You still have the saviour of the club left. Which you have constantly instilled in everyone. Yet even you now condone his actions. Some would say you are a bloody hypocrite.

I would agree you are.

Who is the clubs saviour? The club was saved in 2013 by a bunch of blokes passionate about their club, one of which had the finance and desire to take it to the next level, and a financial position it has never experienced before.

Is that who you mean?

Do you not get sick of history? I want success for my club. The amount poured in we should have it.
