Due to a year's advanced booking I was away for this past weekend but was more anxious for Leigh match that at any time I've ever supported them. My friends kind of 'spoiled' the result but I wasn't actively avoiding the match, just couldn't ever watch it live.
Watching it back, even knowing the result it was a great contest. Just when I think I've got our team measured and what their abilities are, I have to press reset as they surprise me again.
Nice for Holmes to get a try, he's been putting in a hell of a lot of work over the whole season, one of the quiet ones.
Ben's goal kicking is not the worry it used to be, though his attitude still needs work, I noticed him trying to get at Mata’utia after the shot he put on him and where as that is understandable you can see a less than impressed Asiata pushing Ben away.
I think my highlight of the game was the duel between Charnley and Makinson, all done fair and square and with respect and each checked on each other after every contact.
I see some contention about two of Asiata's challenges, we'll see what, if anything, comes of it but John really is the bedrock on which it's all built, nice to see him do close to half an hour first half then rest and come back out for the big ending, it's good to see the rotation being utilised that most were always calling for, but in Lam we trust.
Lees is a grub, which no doubt mean he'll be pulling on a Leigh jersey at some point and play some outstanding rugby, but if he wants to keep getting penalised and giving us field position, please carry on.
Very emotional.
