I’ve stated on other threads , as long as anyone sees out their contact that’s all we can ask.
Leigh are a shop window for emerging talent, and if we can get quality players in with the bait of coming over , do x amount of years and move on we have to take that for what it is.
In my time with players like Steve Halliwell, George Mann, Craig Stapleton John Wilshire and more recently Nene, it’s what we have to deal with.
Unfortunately Edwin will be the next on the radar.

With the exception of the excellent news of Adrian Lam signing on for three more years, recent news has been extremely frustrating for Leigh fans. We hear news only player of departures (including prize assets) rather than of exciting recruitment. With some of the news of other clubs signings it seems surprising that they can remain within the salary cap. We seem to get this every season, why the secrecy by Leigh when other clubs appear comfortable with information about signings being out there?

As well as it being historical, with the fallout from the Asiata/Hull deal and with what Derek said about it being broadcast, it's kind of a rod for our backs now not to say who has been recruited from elsewhere, lest we be seen as hypocrites

Because Leigh have a protocol of only announcing signings at the end of the season as players are officially contracted to other clubs - their is little reason with Chester and lam at the helm not to think we are well ahead of the game with recruitment

Other clubs have previously operated to a similar protocol but since the implementation of IMG fandom, all things digital and instant news, we live in different times. To grow the game and the club it is vital to keep fans engaged and a naïve approach to the publicity around signings is counterproductive.

NRL to Super League - Players have normally transferred for a variety of reasons:
1. Young and unable to secure a place in the NRL
2. Old and out of favour
3. Trouble with the law (or avoiding sex scandals - including sex with animals)

Lammy snr is giving a sales pitch to young talented players - come to Leigh, I will turn you into an NRL starting player - and you can go back to the NRL and earn the big bucks. As a Leigh fan this obviously a difficult angle to take - that Leigh and SL are feeder clubs for the NRL. It is almost an unregulated dual reg situation. Leigh will polish your players and send them back when they are ready.

British players are being snaffled by NRL, with Lewis Dodd already lined up, and rumours of Mikey Lewis, Matty Nicholson, and Junior Nsemba being lined up. Wigan and St Helens are unable to ward off all approaches, with Welsby being an example of long marquee contracts.

It looks shrewd on the part of Lam and Chezzy to embrace the changing markets - and throw the doors open to talented youth. David Armstrong would have been a good example of this policy, but circumstances dictated that he got a chance to shine in the NRL. There are interesting times ahead.

That looks like the kind of roundabout we are playing on. I'm ok with it tbh.

Tremendous news that Leigh Leopards have been successful in the application for an Academy Licence. The existence of the ‘Club Trained Marquee player’ rule (registered with the club for 3 seasons up to the age of 21) should help the club compete for the best talent around and help us keep and retain the top local players who will have an eye on progressing to the level deserving of a marquee contract.

About bloody time. How many years was Frankie in the Academy?
