Why not, very good at top end champ level - not the greatest but most certainly not the worst

I still have no idea what the strategy is, why did we let Peats & Peteru go to Hudds?? Peats is an NRL hooker and we used him as a prop! It’s not like we needed the quota spots as we haven’t used a full quota all year? Whoever is signing these players has a lot to answer for, what is happening with Elliott he’s has flown half way round the world with an injury to play half a dozen games.

Season is over and we bring in Stone & Whitbread until the end of 22.

What the hell is the strategy? Does anybody know?

I’ve heard Neil Jukes is in charge of recruitment, if that is the case then Derek deserves all he gets because he is useless.

Hard to believe they have given him 2 years. Doesn't bode well for our ambitions. It is an experienced coach that we need. We are never going to do anything with rookie coaches in charge. Mid table Champ side next season at this rate.

On another note, French Rugby League is going from strength to strength with Catalans and Toulouse both topping their respective leagues while we watch heartland teams such as Bradford, Widnes, Halifax struggling to get out of the Championship, and Leigh heading back down there after being used as a fall guy, with one hand tied behind their back, to guarantee SL would play most of its games this season. It's so sad to see the demise of Widnes in recent years. It makes me sick to see the current state of affairs in Rugby League in the heartlands. Personally, I would prefer to see a strong heartlands, with all teams running Academies and Reserves, than French teams doing so well in our leagues.

Spot on Graham , the RFL are obsessed with Cats and Toulouse , Leigh were told by the RFL they couldn’t run an Academy , and we are suffering because of this .
I agree with the Coach situation , Haggerty seems a really nice bloke , but is so inexperienced , watching his interview after yesterday’s game , he looked shell shocked , not knowing what to say.
As for the team we had to many players go awol during the game , Thompson , Sau, Gee, Gerrard, Thorniley , I’m a Brierley fan but he didn’t do much , then we had Brand who looked a bit frightened , Vete in no way scored his try , but he murdered us with his runs ,as did Lewis and Keyes later on .
Our future needs sorting out as soon as possible , if Marwan is coming or not .

I championed Ben for several years, thought I could see big potential but never really happened. He's a decent Championship standard half but this for me shows a real lack of ambition to build a Super League team for the future.

Can anyone tell me who has ever been better than Riddy regarding having that rugby brain,and being able to guide us around the park, and also making good decisions when he's had ball in hand? I know that boat has sailed, but we don't ever seem to grasp what is required in the halves, and that's why we are a pile of Sheeite. Our last decent halfback pairing was Riddy & Drinky. Drinky is now pairing with Maloney, and look how that's going. Who remembers when we let Riddy go to the Giants when we was in SL in 2017? Yes that's right, he helped them to survival whilst we ended up getting relegated. If that wasn't enough, we then decided that Riddy still wasn't good enough for us, so we let him go to Fev, and they made a meal of us at the LSV, and beat us comfortably. We should also remember that we spent full cap that season in 2018 only to finish out of the playoffs. Our next season (2019) started with us financially on a shoestring but, Duffy made his first signing in Ridyard, and we ended up in the playoffs that season. In 2020 Riddy was then relegated to 4th in the pecking order behind Sammutt, Josh Woods, and Reynolds ( ), only for the Covid to kick in and no further play would resume that year. So, does the club,or anyone understand what is required at halfback to make Leigh Centurions the team that they should be,and get the fans excited again? One point i would like to make is, who will be an excellent defence coach for us? Because atm it's absolutely dire. rant over

Peats looked totally disinterested and was probably not helpful in the spirit element. Peteru couldnt bust a paper bag. In Peats defence we didnt have any grunt when he played.
Stone and Whitbread will be the cornerstone of the pack, if no get out clauses as both are young.
Reynolds will do a great job in the championship, and a decent one in SL next to a creative 7 - he will do his defence and can cover a couple of other spots
Jukes put a great team together in 17, just didnt have the skills to get the best from it, same as 18.
