14 minutes into the second half and Fev have woken up it seems. Now 28-10 up. Ah well, we have just hit 56 so looking like we may come away with a win !
Well itās 07:55 am in Vancouver, andā¦..Wakey are 12-10 up at halftime ! That 3rd potential loss could be coming sooner than I thought !!!!....
Vanners, mate, clearly (just before 07.55 Vancouver time) someone had merely shouted, āWakey-wakey!ā to you instead of insisting that you drain the cafetiere before posting!
Yes, Bongser was enjoying that scoreline too and trying to suppress the under bubbling schadenfreude. He can confirm that it was WHITEHAVEN 12-10 Featherstone at HT. News Hound, however had eschewed the coffee beans in favour of the free bar in the press suite:
ā¦..Featherstone are the leaders of the chasing pack and had a couple of scares against a struggling Whitehaven. Evans put the Cumbrians in front in the second minute but Smith and Briscoe scored for Featherstone for 10-4 before Singleton got Ā“Havens second which saw them trailing by 8-10 at the breakā¦..
STILL no coffee by 8.22am (Vancouver time)? At that point you posted:

ā¦.and who fined āHaven two points? You say that you were following Flashscore - simply DONāT!

ā¦.aaaand that is the only thing we need concern ourselves with.
Recall a line from a Technicolor car race film viewed, eerrrrm, 40+ years ago (?) Guy jumps behind the wheel and promptly wrenches off the rear-view mirror, tosses it aside and says,
āFirsta rrule of Italian drrriving: whatāsa behinda, doesnāta matttaā.
Thatās the point of this Bongserian ramble, we look only ahead and this is what the foreseeable future holds:
Whitehaven (Away) Featherstone (Bash) Barrow (HOME - bit of Peters & Lee that day perhaps Mr MC) Noocassel (Away) York (Home) Widnes (Home) London (Away) Batley (Home).
Win 7/8 and we have an addition to the Leigh Twitter footer.
Tough crowd I was a little āfuzzyā after a night of good red wine and I was struggling to get the only radio coverage (Hospital Radio) to work for most of the game (not a red wine issue I believe), hence flash scores, which is usually quicker than BBC or Sky but did seem slow for sure. The twitter feed will be my reference from now on. Re looking in the rear view, I honestly donāt see Fev or anyone catching us, it is more of an interest in who finishes second, as I believe Fev are vulnerable to Batley and/or Fax. (I have 8 chickens by the way )
Hats off to Fev on a weekend when the chasing pack all struggled and York could potentially handed them a loss. They are likely looking good for the top 2 now but come the playoffs this weekend shows that several teams will be a threat to them and us in one off games. The fax and Batley results were a real surprise.
Fev have to play Leigh at Big Bash, then they also have Widnes, Barrow and Fax away. Fax or Batley could still pip them if they don't tighten that defence up. They still favourites for 2nd place but only just
It is hard to say this without sounding negative, but it isn't meant that way, but Fev's injuries are now racking up for them too and the squad is looking more threadbare each week. Plus reading the general attitude of Fev fans, they aren't entirely happy with the team's performances, and it would seem morale is low.
That being said, there are no gimmes and we need to put them to the sword at the Bash to further demoralise them.

Hearing Jacks and Busey out for a month, seeing the picture of Lachlan Lam under the āPathTo Gloryā sign at LSV, and watching sides cross for points week in, week out, Iād be a little concerned as a Fev fan. I expect a win at the Bash but also expect that will come predominantly from a strong performance by us, as opposed to a weak one from Fev. This weekend has shown that several teams are on the up (Widnes being one for sure). Iām sure however, that AL has the boys focused on the job in hand at the Bash and beyond.
Featherstone are quite capable of beating us on Saturday, hopefully they won't. If we play like we did in the last 20 minutes at Whitehaven they will. If we play like did in the 1st half, then they shouldn't.

Without Bussey, Jackās and Kheirallah, I just donāt think they have the line breakers they will need to get through our defence enough times to match our ability to score points and shut down offences. If we play well Iām confident we win, if we do not play our best we will still be hard to beat, but you are right Budgie they are capable given the chance. I think we win this one by 20+. (But I did say that Fax will go unbeaten earlier in the thread )
