Gregg pulled up in the act of scoring the first try last night and was taken off a bit later. Looked like a groin injury - should have been taken off straight away. Unlikely he will be fit for Sunday.
I'm not sure about our guys leaving anything in their tanks for Sunday - they had to strain every sinew in a very physical battle to beat Barrow last night.
We played into there hands with too much one up stuff - we can't blame the small Dewsbury pitch for that, but we can blame poor refereeing. Barrow were lying on for England and off side most of the game.
Riddy at full back was yet again a mistake after Gregg going off. It is a double negative - he isn’t quick enough at full back and we lose all his flair in attack.
I do hope Ryan is back - we need him at full back immediately if Gregg is unfit. Ryan was watching the game with our Directors in the stand.
The guy next to me said the same about off side, however I did point out that we were say 28 metres out and the although they weren’t quite back to the Ref he was stood almost on the 40, so they were around 10 metres away.
Some around me were going mad when we broke through from the KO made it to about their 30 threw the ball inside, a Barrow player running back picks it up and some are screaming offside, no he wasn’t correct call play on.
Last tackle Rudd drops the ball/miss kicks it a yard out, knock on, Ref says PTB on the 10 again same folk going mad, saying he should play it a yard out. No it’s the correct decision, would have been a scrum on the 10 but as it was the last tackle it’s a PTB on the 10.
There was one incident which I did feel the Ref got wrong but understand why he gave it, we got tackled their player was in between our players legs as he stood up, so he took a rather large stride over him to ensure a clean PTB with no interference, and the Ref penalised us for moving off the mark, the penalty could have gone the other way, but for me I would have just played on.
Our fans were very supportive to the Barrow lads for the effort they put in last night, and although Refs do make mistakes, they get far more right than they get wrong, and for me they should also be supported for their efforts.
As an aside I would hate to be in that stand every other Friday evening the setting sun was a right pain in the booty.
