Well beaten by the better team. We didn't seem to be able to maintain any pressure on their line, chucking away possession when well placed. Still, in my opinion, they are better than us, and you can't really argue with the outcome. Roll on Monday, and a chance to make amends.

Good following from your lot. I’d say that stand you were in which holds 2500 was around half full, probably a little more.

It must be frustrating with the DR chopping and changing your squad week in, week out. Was expecting a defeat yesterday to be honest but our young lads did a really good job. 13 of the 17 were homegrown, they really are putting a shift in lately.

Was impressed with your young side. I still think you will make the top five. Apart from the ten minutes when we scored our tries, you were pretty much in control.

Has your pitch been re-laid? It looked a lot better than when I was last there.

Felt we played too conservatively yesterday , we needed to offload more , we just couldn't get near enough to their line enough times to build any pressure

Yes, it was re-laid in the off-season.

They've also used green crumb, rather than the cheaper black, and it looks better imo.

Felt like there was a lot of 1 up rugby from Leigh and on the few occasions you tried to throw the ball out, you looked to break.

Liam Hood has an off day because I think when he ticks, as you know, he can be class.

Great day and obviously the wrong result for Leigh but we’re looking forward to the return fixture and good to have this proper rugby league derby back.

Re: Widnes v Leigh : Sat Apr 20, 2019 10:58 am
we was second best overall.
our bench had little impact, we got caught ball in hand on the 6th a couple of times, our kicking game was poor why did we persist with high balls straight into the hands of the opposition on a dreadful plastic pitch, couple of calls went agin us which we still should have defended.
not a lot we can do with personnel but surely we might try some other tactics

Cannot complain about the result - we were well beaten by a better team on the day.
We can however complain about the filthy state of the seating in the East Stand. We were sitting just left of the posts (as viewed from behind the sticks) and all of the seats around us were coated in a disgusting brown scum that was instantly transferred onto peoples clothing. The backs of the seats were equally as bad as the seats themselves.
What kind of welcome is that for the best visiting support Widnes are likely to see this season (with possible exception of Bradford).

Great away following and good to have this rivalry and fixture again. Looking forward to the Summer bash from my holidays in Crete, which I hope I will find on a TV. Be interesting how the season goes, as still some catching up for Widnes and now off the bottom due to points difference. :D
