Be interesting to see how the deal with Richardson pans out, Woods injured, Russell back at Hudds.

With McNally potentially out for a while, Pownall suspended for next weekend be interesting to see how the backs line up next weekend

I question whether Woods is really injured, or it is a nice way of saying why he was left out, if it is correct it must have come about at training this week and not last weeks game at Fax, I commented on his complete lack of involvement in that game he was totally "contact aviodance" and a dinner suit type of player which is OK if a team can afford to run with an organiser who who has a top class pack up front and first class backs outside of him, which we are clearly not, we require a 7 who will take on the line, and get involved in defensive duties, this is not Josh Woods type of game. Rumour has it - from a good authority - that Wigan see a good future in Josh but he really needs to harden himself up somewhat, hence letting him go on loan for 12 months hoping that would assist in more game time. This is not a witch hunt on Josh, but I honestly do not see him as the type of player we need at this present moment.

Or, maybe being hampered by injury impacted on his performance at Fax.

Surely, virtually the whole team was below par, (or made to look below par) at Halifax? I thought he had a good game against Toulouse, especially in the 'game management' role in the second half. Condemning a lad on the evidence of one game, seems a tad harsh to me.

Interestingly Richardson, who was definitely class last season, struggled for 40 minutes yesterday, before he began to find his feet.

Woods is a better defender that Richardson and he just needs to take the line on more to make the opposition wonder wether he's going to run or pass and put doubt in their mind because when Richardson ran at the defence yesterday he looked very dangerous

I concur Alan , Josh is obviously a quality player , yes he didn't necessarily pick the right decisions in the Fax game when we were chasing the game , not really something that cannot be worked on as the season progresses

To me it wasn't just that Josh himself needed to take on the line , rather that at certain points in any given game , depending on the score a different ' point of attack ' is needed , just like when Riddy took the option of a single point yesterday , it put that little bit more pressure on Fev and did give us the option of retaining possession for another set , personally I'd have driven up field with 5 drives and gone for another

Yes Wigan give 3 year FT contracts as competition prizes on the back of corn flake packets don't they?

The lad is suffering with a back injury and requires rest to manage it. However we were short and he did not want to let the team down so the lad put his hand up to John to play.

He did set up our first try, but reading this it makes you wonder why he bothered.

His injury is the reason John pleaded a case with St.Helens to loan us Danny Richardson for a month.

I thought Danny R had a decent debut today , he distributed the ball very fast, complimented Riddy game and did run at the line, I hope he plays again. It was a very good win .

Yes quality half backs are in rare supply at the moment, available quality halves even more rare.

With Richardson, Leigh have secured the best available by far.

Josh is a very good player for me Harold and I think the lad will prove it over the season and if Richardson is available well use him even if it's only to get Josh fully fit

Is Richardson with us for a month, Harold? (I hope he is, by the way) Holbrook is quoted as saying he is D/R.
